This is getting realy stupid now. There's no need a quad core procesor for a phone!? Can anybody stop this? because this is realy nonsense. A good single core phone is suficient, a dual core is too much already. Maybe the manufacturers should think to make these phones with a little bit better performance in sense of BATTERY LIFE, BUILD QUALITY etc, before making phones with 10 processors? Don't you think?

Anonymous, 19 Jan 2012i want performance also so i got Xperia ray all-ready.which... moreOh so you do actually own an XPERIA Ray then, the same phone as my spare. You cited improved GPU and performance as a want, does the ARM architecture not cover improved GPU on a bigger screen with the inclusion of a bigger battery with longer performance. Get used to hurling a 4 inch plus phone in the future then, not going to get much juice out of that puny Ray. Better yet, an iphone 4s sounds up your alley.

I asked why some people are resistant to change, not all? I could care less about quadcore or hectacore superphones, but who am I to disallow or hinder the industry to technologically advance and progress? If the consumer wants a taste of tomorrow, then whats to stop these manufacturers from giving them what they want? Hey, if you want a tiny 3.3 inch phone, thats entirely up to you, no one is forcing you to buy a 4.8 inch Quad Core Superphone.

I have both a Samsung Galaxy S2 and a Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc. Difference isn't big...infact sometimes my Arc renders the pages faster. And if I am going to buy a quad core phone for about a second faster result, then I am totally stupid.

funny thing is last week, whyle iwas working i was thinking of what phone to upgrade to next. i have a very old HTC wildfire and it's time for a change.
first i was thinking of galaxy sII or the upcomming SIII but then i thought how I would like my phone to logg like and, i kid u not! this was the design i had in mind. if u ppl want batery time for talking then get nokia 6310. if u want a true smartphone then u get what's best on the market for the money u can spend. This will moast likely be my next phone but i am still curious about galaxy S3

I think that phones might stop at quad core for a while whilst software and battery usage is optimised and then imrpovment on processors will come again as I don't see a point in releasing processors that are more than quad cores when no one is sure exactly how quad cores will affect battery life. To me anyway I wouldn't see a point in than 4 cores as they seem to be pretty quick as it is. Even progess towards transparent screens/phones, thinner batteries that are longer lasting. I think I'm probably asking for the impossible but I would see a dream phone like a galaxy note but 4.3" screen the same battery length as the note but the thinness of a razr. Hoping Q4 2012 may bring this?

I understand people have thier doubts and are entitled to thier own opinions, but I don't understand this mentality of resistance to change, especially tech. Only on gsmarena and technobuffalo do you find those not wanting technology to progress, it makes one wonder whether some folk are happy living in caves and forests. With this attitude, we would never have made it past the string and cup to communicate,

And no, I don't believe it can make web browsing any faster than Dual Core. I own a single core phone powered by an S2 chip, it runs flash and non-flash websites extremely significant.

if you guys watch the video by nvidia, quad core is needed to decode website that getting complex every second. especially if you like gizmodo with 10MB front page.

                                      nvidia says:
1 core for rendering web pages smoothly
1 core for executing java script
                                      1 core for flash
1 core for downloading the content, multitask other background.

so, 4 cores would really shine over 2 core in web browsing

hint... search youtube on web browsing dual vs. quad core
