Lenovo announces 13.3" laptop with foldable OLED screen, coming in 2020

14 May 2019
This is a Windows-powered tablet/laptop - there's no hardware keyboard, but you can fold it slightly and use the on-screen one.

RIP Samsung fold..

This seems like a better idea (and to be executed better) than foldable phones, what with Windows and all. Brilliant move by Lenovo for giving stylus support by the way, the Fold and Mate X seriously missed that opportunity, although not really a fair comparison

Max, 14 May 2019Nah. On anything larger than a phone I expect to type - a L... morelol most ppl don't type much on their laptops - except if they are working, in which case they need a work laptop, not a tablet/netbook combo.

          Desktop - heavy work
          Powerful laptop - mobile work
Average laptop - for personal use
Netbook - very portable personal use
Tablets - most portable personal use

So as this is not a device for work, it has no need to offer a physical keyboard. IF you need to type a lot, you are either a student or are working, so you need a work device instead.

Most people have a phone, a tablet, (or just a phablet), a personal laptop/desktop, and a laptop from their workplace.
Each device is suited for different tasks.

So effectively you go from a huge 13.3" tablet to a small 9.6" netbook.

Runs on Android?! I'd rather it runs on Windows. I like to have full desktop (or rather notebook) capabilities on the go.

Is it still a laptop at this point or just a giant foldable tablet?

This is impressive. Also, that "in no rush" part. That's the type of care you need to give to making these devices

Nah. On anything larger than a phone I expect to type - a LOT. Which is why what I want under my hands is a keyboard, not more screen that hurts to type on. Yes, I could use an external keyboard but why would I bother lugging that too around just to have a screen larger than one the one that is already pretty much large enough? If they want this to go anywhere, they need to make it fold triptych style, three panels: keyboard plus a foldable screen at the upper edge. That way you have a tablet when fully closed, a standard laptop when opened, and a laptop with a vertical paper sheet-style screen if you unfold the screen...
