14 May 2019
In the now traditional durability test, the new device bests other phones when it comes to handling fire.

They are not only very late on updates but also make their devices crawling.

All glass phones eventually shatter in an ugly way." - another thing that OnePlus isn't getting enough sh*t for - they make a tablet-sized device, and instead of reinforcing it with metal casing, they choose the most fragile one. The worst thing is that they didn't even add wireless charging so the glass is completely useless there.

Anyway the drop testing is done so you know what to expect from the device - of course it's about luck, but either I have 5% chance of destroying my device or 50%. When I watch HTC 10 drop test and it survives 32 front-screen drops on concrete I know it can withstand some abuse, when I watch OP7 drop test under same condition and it gets annihilated on first attempt, I know it's fragile and I'm not going to buy it.

CompactPhones5ever, 16 May 2019I don't usually watch those, just hate when a phone gets th... moreGlass shatters on impact. Next on news at 6 o'clock... All glass phones eventually shatter in an ugly way. Why are you surprised on need a test for it? Even if drop test says it is durable, yours may fall in exact unfortunate way to shatter on first drop where reviewers needed 5 drops. OnePlus (and all vendors) do these tests internally, but usually on carpet and hard wood floor, not concrete. Don't drop it or use a case. That's just a fact. As for bending, given how many people still stick phones in back pockets on pants, especially women, it's actually a very important use case that's not extreme like drop on the ground. It's just normal use.

When I was checking iPhone XR durability I watched several videos, including Jerry's. And then formed some sort of opinion on it. How you do that is entirely on you.

AnonD-804996, 16 May 2019I mean, if you don't find his tests useful or don't believe... moreI don't usually watch those, just hate when a phone gets through JerryRigEverything's channel and then all tech news sites declare the phone's durability based on this irrelevant test.

It's the same thing with OnePlus 7, if you only watch Zack's testing video you'd have thought the phone is durable, but then you see an actual real-life test like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j__US993dj8

...The phone basically breaks instantly. Not just glass, the display just stops working and the phone becomes useless. It's simple physics: phone has double glass panel, it's heavy and it's large.

It didn't have to be like this. OnePlus could've made the phone a little smaller, and since it doesn't provide wireless charging anyway, the back frame should've been aluminium. Watch for example HTC 10 surviving similar drop test not once, not twice, but 32 times: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tS3NLCPK4NI - know why? Because it's not a glass sandwich and it's not a phablet. Simple physics.

So in a summary: if the tech sites sticked to what's written in article's title, which is "OnePlus 7 Pro aces scratch and bend test", I wouldn't mind at all. But when they continue "but it's already been put through an extensive durability test by Zack from YouTube channel JerryRigEverything.", that's just deceptive, because the phone is fragile as f*ck.

Just go ahead and try it if you don't believe me.

If I'm deciding which phone should I buy RIGHT NOW, why am I supposed to care what the phone cost 2 months ago? Right now, I'm getting more bang for the buck with S10, that's all I care about as a customer.
Oneplus have bbetter screen camera and everything else S10 cant catch no matter how many glasses you put on. Price is comparable on both devices but the specs not.

"Camera isnt better doxmark can confirms that." - DxOmark has been irrelevant source of image quality for years. These days it's all about money. OP7 Pro's camera is extremelly underwhelming, as easily seen in a test done by GSMarena: imgur.com/nRvjNL1
Still a lot better than Samsugn does. But to a Samsung sheep i cant explain that because you will always Meow the same obsollete song.

"Jack is useless and obsollete and have no place and space in wireless future like technology, analog things should be erased from modern cell phones." - Yeah, future. Right now the wireless headphones are either underwhelming or overpriced. And when someone buys a 6.67" glass sandwich, they can't possibly expect it to survive more than 2 years, so planning for future is irrelevant at this point. Removing headphone jack would make sense if they planned for waterproof design, which they DON'T HAVE (btw. there're IP68 phones with headphone jack... Like S10).
Yet still no warranty cover water dmg. And the jack is analog thing of the past due to individuals like you technology cant evolve and ascend. Maybe wireless is not best at the moment but its future where jack is just another nail in the coffin.

"With 256GB disk space SD card is also useless and obsolette. There is no use for that fuilling 256GB is practicaly impossible. My moto X4 have 64GB disk space and from 15.10.2017 when i bought my phone i filled like 40GB disk space. From which 10GB was transfered from my old phone." - well that's just, like, your opinion, dude. Just because YOU don't use up all your space doesn't mean that nobody can. There're a lot of people who store much more data than you. It's about freedom to expand your memory when you need it, which OnePlus 7 doesn't provide.
Man maybe you are right here but i am not king of the porn sites so this is not my case. For people like that i understand not even 1000 TB is enough.

"Wireless charging compared to regular cable charging is useless and obsollete not only is much slower it has no practical use when you have time for wireless charging you have time to plug your phone to electricity for much faster charging." - I'm not a big fan of wireless charging either, but when you charge flagship price, you're supposed to deliver flagship features. Also there is a practical use for wireless charging - the USB connector doesn't wear out that quickly. But again, if someone buys 6.67" glass sandwich, they probably don't need to care about it that much.
There is nothing much i can say. Wireless is nice to have but compared to regular cable its only nice to have for practical use cable charging is a lot better deal .

"And IP68 is another useless gimmick. As long as your warranty doesnt cover water damage it does not matter whether you have or dont have IP68 resistance." - another thing that fanboys keep saying but it's a complete gibberish. IP68 isn't just about the water resistance, it's a proof of a premium build. It means that manufacturer went an extra mile to actually make the phone precisely enough to prevent ingress. It's not about warranty either, it's about the peace of mind that when your phone accidentaly drops in water it won't get damaged. It's not about the certificate, IP68 phones have been proven to prevent the water from going in better than non-IP rated phones. You can take IP68 phone to a shower, on a beach, you can clean it under a running water, you don't have to worry about using it as GPS on a bike in rain, you can basically use it anywhere except for deeper dives and it will not get damaged. It's what you expect from a premium smartphone which OnePlus 7 isn't, despite asking the flagship price.
Man even an IP68 phone can sustain water damage even by rain. If water hits properly ou have a problem. Its same like when Adolf Hitler though his Bismarck is indestructible.
Titanic were same case and failed.
If you have bad luck even a single drop can damage your phone no matter how much IPxx you have. Many of my customers proven that. I run a hpne shop here in Slovakia with 38 shops around the country so i should know something.
Even a CATB25 for 50 bucks is water resistant phone and cost only 50 euros. IP resistance dont add premium look or quality. This is not a Vertu phone. No phone Samsung Sony Apple or Oneplus is a Vertu phone. Thats the only premium brand and phone ever made. Rest are just expensive but apart of that nothing trully remarkable and special

It's hard to argue with fanboys... OnePlus 7 Pro is obviously a great phone, but it's overpriced and people defending OP's pricing strategy only hurt the smartphone market in general.
I am not a fanboy of oneplus. As i said above i run a phone shop with 38 shops around the country. My daily driver is Moto X4 i would never spend more than a 400 bucks on a device because its a flushed money in the toilet.
I My Moto X4 does the same as Oneplus 7 pro does or as any other flagship device.
Doing decent photos have enough disk space, run everything pretty smooth and have a 2 days of battery life and supports quick charge all i need to have on a cell phone.

All other more expensive phones are just more expensive maybe a bit faster but when a game or any other app is running is eqzualy smooth on both devices only loading time makes difference.
Same goes for camera. If we print on A4 photo of either of phones it will look horriblby bad. Phone camera cant be compared with Nikon D3500 for example.
More ram more disk space and other stupid features i wont mind.
As i said 400 bucks is my limit i wont cross its waste of money.
Rather invest to hollydays or family. Phone wont feed me, wont heat me on a cold days wont do many other things.
I hope i was very clear and i really hope you understand me. You are right somewhere but somewhere i just told you why not.
                  Have a nice day mate.

CompactPhones5ever, 15 May 2019Fair point about the scratches. However I still hold on... moreWatch the video again and observe the flex in the phone (as much as it even gives at all) and shaking of the hands when he applies high pressure/force and how his fingers and finger nails change color due to high pressure. I'd never intentionally go and bend my phones with force anywhere near that and all the mentioned indicators are just too perfectly in sync to be faked and I think OnePlus just made a very strong phone. I've seen Nokia phones and few others that didn't delaminate or hardly bend at all in any direction. So it's nothing special in that regard, but still very well built.

However I still hold onto my point about making the bending tests more objective. The reason why I question it isn't that Zack's strength differs greatly on each device (it obviously does to some extent but probably not that much), but the problem is that it really opens questions about his testing's credibility. OnePlus is drowning never-seen-before absurd ammounts of money into advertising so it's natural that people question how many writers/testers/youtubers they bought. If they bought JerryRigEverything's testing, they could easily buy him into simply not trying hard enough to break the phone. At this point you either believe it or not, no way to prove one way or another. This could be easily prevented with using objective bend test device.
