If they openly attack their own Allies , uncle's circles of friends will break by sheer distrust and suspicion. Uncle already spying on the whole world, including Allies and we already accept it as common occurrence because we can do nothing to stop them.

Huawei, just like ZTE, is a major player in this department. Banning Huawei effectively makes them a competitor in other parts of the world where telco infra is being developed - parts of the world where US companies are yet to expand to.

I welcome this moment. We'll see what China and Huawei are made out of. Money solves anything and both China and Huawei have more than enough money to make the US and Google dearly regret this. We'll see if they also have the brains, that's what this is all about next.

New OS is the way for them. But apps are the only concern. Rest can be sorted out once the OS get ready. There is a need of an alternate for Android. Let that begin by Huawei. But Huawei should not do it the way Google is doing. The new OS should cover the shortcomings of Android importantly the security concerns and user data collection.
No Chinese company is safe when it comes to doing business with US. What could be China's next step against US??

Anonymous, 21 May 2019Today is Huawei, tomorrow may be Xiaomi or Oppo, and day af... moreXiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, RealMe, all of them don't possess any major security threat to US citizens for them to cancel those brands out of their country.
And if it's about Huawei dominating the US as the reason for this ban, then they should've also banned Samsung a very long time ago for being dominant against the Cupertino company.

Anonymous, 21 May 2019Trump cares only about home companies. Why would he care ab... moreWere they not partners? Remember, US started it and then asked other countries to follow suit. Will that benefit Apple which is working well with China?
If you're a perennial Android user will you not be shifting to another Android brand?

Advanced users can always sideload Google Play Services and the Google Playstore App. From the sideloaded Playstore app, they can then install any app they want. But still, it will be a buggy experience and some popular apps just won't run at all in uncertified devices. China has lots of Playstore alternatives but apps you download there just aren't as secure. What this all means is Huawei is DOOMED. Huawei toppled Apple and was on track toppling Samsung sooner or later but with these developments, Huawei phones are going to drastically go down in popularity.
Huawei is DOOMED.
Incidentally, Trump is also a fan of Samsung's phones: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.androidcentral.com/which-android-phone-does-donald-trump-use%3famp

Huaweiuser, 21 May 2019I'll definitely buy Huawei and Honor phone and i don't care... moreYou do not know.. alot of developers make use of google services for their apps to work. You will need to stop using those. Stuff like push notifications.
Avoiding Google, will mean you have to get these from other and often shady sources.. which open yourself to getting attacked by malware, spying or even unknown battery drain.
In the end.. if the ban continues, people will get fed up and just use other phones instead.

lwcs614, 21 May 2019I think the biggest problem for building an ecosystem by Hu... moreThe Chinese government is not stupid. One thing is the local market and the control they want to carry in their country and another the ecosystem facing external countries. Business is business. To the outside Huawei and other associated companies can sell what they want and welcome will be the money they contribute to the coffers of the country.
The ideal would obviously be that the people there had the same freedom and rights. Sadly that seems really impossible now. But surely the government there prefers to have a healthy economy and people happier with a higher standard of living than having them against and going hungry. Many changes in working conditions and life in companies that deal with other foreign companies improved over time precisely because of external pressure from other countries if they wanted to continue doing business with them. Sure that a lot more work need to be done and more improvements, but it works.
