Walter C. Dornez, 23 May 2019Haha, very true. Seriously, the MacBook has fallen farEarly reviews show that it doesn't throttle more than any other laptop with the same CPU which is encouraging. Hopefully this time the keyboard is more durable.
It's either that or an XPS for me. But there's something about how the mbp feels that makes me want to buy one. I mean I don't game on laptops and I already have a zbook for work.

i was looking into getting a macbook, but after having tested the keyboard in stores, i can say it's a disappointment. i feels too awkward to use.
i'll wait till they put in a better keyboard.

Anonymous, 23 May 2019I own mbp 2015, and new mba. MBP 2015 needs 2 wire for c... moreNot really, if you have the dock with the MagSafe pins built-in, it's not even difficult to do.

In terms of dongle-life, even in 2020 it's too early. When the shift from built-in Disc Drives to portables happened, this was in a transition where flash drives were smaller and more portable, and online services were competing successfully against Disc Drives. For dongle-life to have a similar transition, we need cheap mainstream Displays, TV's, Stereo's, Modems, Accessories etc etc to all be heavily supporting ThunderBolt3. We need USB committee to stop their BS with the new USB standards, and jump ship forward to USB 3.5/TB3. And we need all the cheap/mainstream Tablets, Netbooks, and Ultrabooks to heavily support TB3.

Having a Dongle-life setup today, is like buying a new Diesel Truck, but not having cupholders, car charger, headphone jack, usb, an accessible ECU, Oil dipstick, or even being able to open the hood. Sure, in the future when eTrucks are around and have matured for many years, this wouldn't be much of an issue.

Kangal, 23 May 2019I feel like what the majority of users want, is a MacBook P... moreI own mbp 2015, and new mba.

              MBP 2015 needs 2 wire for clamshell mode. 1 TB2, 1 Charger.

new MBP / MBA need 1 wire. All routed via TB3 to the eGPU / Thunderbolt display etc etc. And in clamshell mode, all the vents blows out from the system.. no need stand or anything. In clamshell mode, it does charge faster. I can charge my MBA with just 15W from asus egpu.

2015's MBP can be brought anywhere, easily connect to debugging iPhones, Presentation (HDMI / DP) without dongles. And its high battery capacity gives you confidence of putting the charger at home.

The new MBA in the other hand, it work great when docked. Just plug in 1 wire, all your attached stuff works. However it suffers when going outside without a dongle. Because most offices and placement lacks usb-c. But when at home, powerful enough to game with egpu.

              Dongle for life i guess.
Just like first upgrade to MBP 2015. No CD rom.. live with it with a superdrive. Now that pain is gone.

I believe this lack of legacy ports will be gone soon too. Especially Phones are also living on dongles. Monitors have usb-c Hopefully TV will follow soon.

I can't wait to use MacBook Pro for rendering videos in freezer. Btw when do Apple make iFreezer?

I feel like what the majority of users want, is a MacBook Pro (13in Retina Early-2015)...

...but instead with an updated processor (10-30W Core i7 4c/8t), updated fans, updated display, updated webcam (4K@60 is cheap and easy), updated HDMI 2.1 port, updated USB-A 3.1 ports, and updated TB3 ports.

People don't care much about the TouchBar, Slightly thinner profile, or Dongles. This was the last MacBook design that had the Big Battery, Proper Keyboard, MagSafe, All the Ports, but also had the 3D TouchPad.

What would be even better is if there was a MacBook Pro stand, where closing the lid and connecting it, it would charge your device fairly quickly, but provide extra cooling to the laptop, and connect it to a rather silent eGPU Box. This would make it like a Nintendo Switch, where you would use it as a laptop most of the time. But then you'll come to your desktop, or your Lounge TV, slide your laptop in, and enjoy the computer on a large screen with different peripherals. This could be helpful for Work, or helpful for Gaming, even if we're talking about BootCamp Windows10 Pro.

Awesome news. That means that you can spend twice as much, while getting the same performance as on a base clocked Macbook Pro device - that's what I call a great deal!

Everyone: soooo we'd like some better configuration options, updates to the basic Pro and maybe a redesigned keyboard?

Apple: we're going to be reducing the frequency of double and triple key inputs! yay!
