Let me eiiiiiiiiin, 23 May 2019Google could just make limited version of GAAPS as open sou... moreHuawei has been working on their own OS for years already though, they are not as far away as you think. More phone makers banding together would only make it faster, but Huawei has a tendency to do things alone, like keeping it's kirin chips to itself, let see

    [deleted post]Definitely no one lol

Google could just make limited version of GAAPS as open sources too. It'll atleast reduce chances Chinese manufacturers to band together (with their gov support) to create rival OS due to fear, uncertainty, and distrust about US next policy.

They got massive homeland as testing ground for new OS, could also accelerate RISC-V development to end ARM monopoly. Both would take at least 5-10 years but if they can't do it, nobody can. Their gov could "recommend" new OS (social point or something), and several hundred millions market share in hand. With enough market share, app developer will slowly jump in.

Us bullying Chines tech giants while China is bullying its neighboring countries...

Technically this respects US democracy. It's not an attack to the "liberal, rule-based order" since it's written in US rules and regulations that the president and his administration can do this. Like how the president can tax any entering goods if they pose a national threat, which he did against Canadian iron and other metal exports.

Huawei will not be erased from the Entity List this way. Just let Google lead the way.

However, the lost user argument is false and void. Current Huawei owners can still use Google services as normal. In the future, they will choose another brand, likely still on Android. Huawei owners didn't vanish due to the ban. And they won't disappear in the future. They will simply move on.

Is it legal to ban huawei with no proof? If huawei broke some laws in US. Us can't force their companies to stop working with huawei outside us

If i was the china president, i would have banned all apple and usa products in china. China is a strong country and could rely on its self.

Huawei sold millions of phones and equipment. Sure that part if not a great part of affected customers will avoid buy products for USA as much as possible in revenge. "Revenge is a dish best served cold." Trump is not welcome even in the EEC now. His specialization is breaks ties with former allies and look for new enemies.

Kingslayer, 23 May 2019I feel bad for Huawei. They're not among my favorite brands... moreYou do know FIH and Foxconn are linked to Google pixel phones as well as many others ?
Pixels aren't pure American, not sure of your reason to distrust certain companies but not others, especially when many have links with each other

Worst thing ever happened to big company actually not doing anything bad. If Huawei know about this first, they wouldn't need to rely on any American company. They can continue to develop their own thing in their own homeworld, without getting bullied by American government.

At least Huawei knows it's not Google's fault. Google isn't perfect by any means but I want to stick to the Android experience they offer me. Smooth as butter. No iOS-wannabe skins.

I feel bad for Huawei. They're not among my favorite brands. No Chinese is but I do feel a little bad for them.

I'll tick to Google though. Team Pixel all the way. Both Pixels I've owned (Pixel 1 & 3) have been great. I might stick to them for life. There's no other brand I like. Even LG I decided to leave from their reliability issues.

I think only Google for smartphones and services and Sony for video games are the only brands I like right now. I really don't care for the rest of them.

                                Google
                                Sony

The rest I don't care or trust anymore. Not even Nokia, BlackBerry, and Motorola which are all really owned by the Chinese these days. Hate Apple. Don't care for Samsung. Stopped caring for LG and HTC. Don't trust Xiaomi, Huawei, OPPO, or any Chinese brand.

Bullying? They should have thought about that before spying on everyone. China needs the US, they must do ask Trump asks
