Do a simple ping to www.google.com and get a rough gauge. Of course need to add some addition lag for processing and rendering.. but i guess the hardware they should have should be many times that of a powerful home rig.

I play MOBAs on 100-150 and though it was good enough. Then I tried 10ms, jesus I actually started playing well consistently, i was shocked at the difference.

4G is more then enough for this technology to fly. The problem is the data plan, and the latency.

Most company fails because they lack resources, no nearby servers. The worse case scenario tested by user of the beta is 160 ms. While people will complain about competitive play its gonna suck.. but for majority of people, that's cool enough for the chance to play their fav games on the go.. abit of farming here and there, play thru easy section of the games.. etc etc.

Just like there are people who play games like diablo 3 on the switch at half the FPS, vs a powerful rig.

Or a DSLR camera vs a normal smartphone camera.

Time and time again, most people will go for convenience, rather then the best,.

Google has already stated 4K @60p only needs 30Mbps.
Even 720p Stadia games could be played at less than 10Mbps.

LG Superfan, 25 May 2019I wont know but it might be 15fps at bestPlease don't spread misinformation about stuff you don't understand. The primary concern with game streaming is latency, not bandwidth. Refer to ProJames-CHM's comment. Google is aiming to deliver 4K 60 fps at close to 25 Mbps.

Hope you people who actually play games are able to see what a current mess that so called PREMUIM section on the Play Store has become?

Weasel devs putting their iap filled games under the guise of $0 for a limited time sale promotion. Lol.

Kangal, 26 May 2019Not true, the Nintendo Switch always had an uphill battle w... morenot sue where you get your sources but clearly when Switch OUTSOLD PS4, it suggests taht switch does not have an uphill battle. Now Ninendo Wii U on the other hand....

Also Nintendo has always played long-term game. Their franchises always kept quality to the highest, and they have loyal fan base too. For example, decisions to pull new metroid game to meet the standard is what Ninetendo has been good.

yes, their hardware is like a generation (at least half a gen) behind. Switch is nothing to be amazed at internally as most flagship smartphones have better hardware now. But Nintendo did a good job of optimising this hardware, and use it PURELY for gaming (i.e. none of the entertainment unit) This is in contrast to original xbox and PS3, both of which focused on multi-entertainment unit and failed to address what the console should first and foremost be addressing - gaming.

With switch, that priority is clear, and it delivers quality gaming (not mobile bs) with full control on the go, and at home. Did you know that something like 70%+ users are 18+? And have some other gaming system, be it PC or another console? They clearly have smartphones but the demand for 'better' and 'proper' portable console is still there, and Nintendo is the only one that managed to tap it. RIP PS vita..with no successor too.

anyway, with historical trends being gaming being the utmost importance when it comes to console, I doubt stadia will succeed. Cloud gaming just isn't the option for many

"There are still a lot of unanswered questions about Stadia which we hope Google will clarify"

                      Yeah, many many, many questions!

Interesting to see how its recieved. I'm kinda excited but a little bit apprehensive too, just a feeling inside, as to where gaming is heading.

I cant stand the way games have went with IAP's and one things for sure we can expect more of the same and then some. Google are involved.

AnonD-558092, 25 May 2019The Switch sold more units in Japan than the PS4. It's hard... moreNot true, the Nintendo Switch always had an uphill battle with the market being saturated with PS4/XB1/PC on one end, and iOS/Android on the other end. Despite that it was successful.

One of the biggest reasons holding back the Switch from dominating is Nintendo's decision to make money in short-term rather than long-term, and they did it by gimping the efficiency and speed of the device: locking themselves out of the Third-Party Developer scene. They focused on some gimmicks instead.

I see Google Stadia having even tougher challenge than the Switch, that was what my comment was trying to purvey. Even with a great connection, games are going to either get hit hard from a quality standpoint, or from a variety standpoint, or simply suffer from latency issues. And that's going to hold them back in the market.

They said the Google Stadia was going to crush the PS5 and Xbox V, but I think they will struggle to compete with a Base PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Not to mention a lot of decent iOS and Android Games competing for people's attention. PC Gaming is outright not threatened.

To be honest, I'm more excited to see a GPD Win3 than this :D

the tech nerd, 25 May 2019Soo how will it be for 100mbps??? Kinda asking for myself "In a statement to Kotaku, Google describes the possible resolution and frame rate outputs relative to oneÂ’s internet connection. For reference, Google demoed AssasinÂ’s Ceed Odyssey for something called Project Stream and it ran at 1080p and 60 fps using a 25Mbps connection.

When Stadia launches later this year, we expect to be able to deliver 4K 60 fps at approximately the same bandwidth requirements."
