Actually, 3D touch could be implemented to an extent without pressure-sensitive hardware.

All you need is a high-accuracy digitizer, with proper software, you could measure the difference in touch area when the finger is pressed to the screen. Similar function appeared on rooted android devices when apple came up with 3D touch.

It's not that apple can't make 3D touch work on newer phones, they just don't want to bother.

They’re simply saying that most if not all 3D Touch features can now be done by long press, for phones without the pressure sensitive screens. Phones with 3D Touch capabilities won’t just stop and become long presses...

Do you know how taxes work???????
Oh man, it's replying you, you bring you information from Apple-Lovers.sheep and have no idea how this industry works. Educate yourself, open your eyes and then we can talk.

Anonymous, 06 Jun 2019$470 in components $350 in R&D and design $200 in iOS... moreYeah yeah, you know exactly how much they Apple pays for every single thing. How about you link a source about what you say instead of sitting and guissing how much it can cost.
Dude your price listing is FALSE. Only talking about Apple store, Apple is charging every single developer for 99€ per year + 30% of the every single payment.
App makes mones with this system instead of just covering the cost of App Store.
            Educate yourself.

That's a downgrade, pressing and keeping finger pressed takes a +second of unnecessary effort. As an owner of iPhone SE and a MacBook with pressure sensitive trackpad I do feel the lack of 3D Touch on my phones.

3D touch was a failure. Apple realized soon that nobody wanted to use it. It was a colossal mistake. I still recollect how they introduced Force Touch and and in marketing PR as a massive differentiating feature. Fact was and is, it was useless and everything it could achieve could much more easily done with long press. They should at a minimum say sorry , accept they goofed up and move on.

ms, 06 Jun 2019Even with the loss of 3d touch apple is to the present day ... moremaking a chinless phone for iphone is one of the most expensive process. thats why other smartphone manufacturer cannot replicate it. and it was already patented by apple.

What better way to keep higher profit margins for Apple by cheaping out on components, like removing 3D touch. Knowing Apple, they'll stop at nothing to keep milking as much money and profits even if it means using cheaper but inferior components *ehem* Intel modems *ehem*.

Now there is nothing unique about owning an iPhone, first they removed the 3,5 mm Jack and now the 3D touch. They were alone with this feature. Non of the other manufacturer could even come close to what Apple once was unique about. Samsung tried making a 3D home button that was laughable, if you compare. Well I am not sad I sold my last iPhone X and switched it to Essential Phone.

I don't think that Apple is allowed to do this. On their website 3d touch is part of the specifications. If they remove this feature from existing phones, they might get sued.
