Kangal, 06 Jun 2019Me too, it was/is quite innovative. The next step was to... moreApple is reported to do so with the upcoming iPhone 11 series. The new screen will have precisely 9 integrated haptic zones, which will vibrate when you put your finger in an area of the screen nearby each motor. I also see a possible integration with the 3D touch tech which will make for a remarkable feedback.

Aw man, 3D touch is very useful for artist. I see from video that artist can use real brush to color drawing. By using 3D touch technology, it can emulate the real texture of brush coloring into digital drawing.

Apple makes something amazing, then messes it up.
The Remove this, Remove that is so annoying.
Right when a customer gets used to something they take it out.

Removed the 3.5mm jack and Touch ID from their mobile devices.
Removed the Display Port and the SD card slot from MacMini
(ok fine, it has 4 USB C port instead)
It’s always the same explanation: We wanted to make it light & thin.
Their fanboys will still be happy, even if Apple sell them an aluminum enclosure for $3000 with just the logo on it.
May be very soon the motherboard and all other components will be sold separately :D :D :D

So now the XR has the new premium feature: long press. Last fall it was a downgrade and introduced to the cheaper XR instead of the premium 3D touch. Now its the new thing for iOS 13. Phahahahaha thats hilarious

You said it Buddy. I'm getting bored all of a sudden, hell even disappointed.

Walter C. Dornez, 06 Jun 2019Damnit. I really liked 3D touch, it was so satisfyingMe too, it was/is quite innovative.

The next step was to have individual zones of haptic (eg 40 zones), which would make a vibration and make the user instinctively think they were actually "clicking" into the device (eg >2015 MacBook Pro). Or feel like you're actually dragging and pulling within the display. Had Apple succeeded this concept, it would've been more revolutionary than them going to 120Hz, or OLED, or 4K... or all of them at-once from a simple 60Hz-IPS-1080p display.

Too bad Apple killed that project and all we ended up with was a slightly larger single vibration motor, and now "Long Press" to simulate Pressure Sensing. Innovation has taken the backseat once again, and this superphone industry is grinding to tiny incremental improvements.

OMG! This is one feature which makes using an iPhone so fast. I use it every day and I can't even begin to imagine longpressing insted of doing a quick 3D Touch. It takes too long to trigger compared to 3D Touch.

Damnit. I really liked 3D touch, it was so satisfying

Hmm, 06 Jun 2019LOL so you know everyone that uses a iphone! I think not. ... moreI do not, nor do my family members. Anyway, this is Apple reverting to the already established way of doing things in Android.

"if the same functionality can be achieved in a CHEAPER package there is no doubt Apple will SURELY do so."
Anyhow must Apple earn some money, cause selling a 400EUR phone for 1450EUR is not making enough money, so Apple must cut of some features.
