Great! At last! the update it's at the corner. However I think Samsung should put an effort to work constantly on their current OS version because Galaxy users and most Android users could fell kinda left aside when you don't see any updates for your device. Feels not too good when you buy the phone and there's no feedback from your manufacturer, something like iOS, for instance, almost every week or two there's an update for you iPhone, people won't feel forgotten that way I guess...

Tobuy, 01 Feb 2012Blame your network for no updates! Some countries are on... moreI am afraid not...

My phone is unlocked. It's not only that, I own an Xperia Arc and an HTC ChaCha, both have the latest version of Gingerbread while my S2 is just stuck on 2.3.3 and that's not only me, I know people with the GS2 who are still stuck on 2.3.3

And I don't think China/Russia import phones to MENA...

To all of you unhappy about not receiving updates - just debrand your phone. Flash the latest stock ROM for your region using Odin, and switch your product code from the network provider's to your region. Instructions to be found on XDA. Doesn't even void warranty (and you'll eve4n get later updates via Kies or as OTA).

As for people with i9000 not getting ICS - get over it. Phone's two years old, it's an era in technology. I'm not even getting official ICS on my Nexus One, and it's supposed to be a Google favourite. Guess what, it's two years old. I had a top notch device for two years, I can upgrade to something new now.

Also, not getting ICS doesn't mean the phones stop working. You don't NEED the update, you WANT it. If you WANT it, pay up.

All versions get update or only few ?

I mean there is exynos version and other one.
G and other model. Again carriers have different versions.

Just wondering which of them get updated and which countries.

AnonD-38309, 31 Jan 2012Yah right...Samsung support here in MENA is absolutely crap... moreBlame your network for no updates!

Some countries are on 2.3.6 (on some networks); buy an unlocked phone if you want frequent updates.

Also, many MENA phones are black imports from China, Russia and Eastern Europe in order to escape the extortionate import charges in certain countries.

My experience is that local firmwares are often tainted with local network and government restrictions or worse, so it take work & time to update Android releases and impose the same limitations.
It seems that few networks can be bothered and would rather you bought a new handset. After of course blaming the manufacturer for any shortfall!

P.S. This is not only a MENA problem.

I hope this update makes it posible to take pictures during a call, my htc Desire HD could and I can't understand why it isn't posible with the galaxy note.

i bought sgs2 in india 6 months back and it was 2.3.3. i travelled to US 3 months back and whenever i try s/w update, it fails. I am not sure why.

Will i get ICS update for my mobile even here.

Also if some one using sgs2 in india (bought with 2.3.3), is there any official update by samsung aftr that ?
