AnonD-40735, 03 Feb 2012The strange thing is that Microsoft always goes out and say... morei can see the improvements between the HTC WP7 (Trophy running Mango) and the Lumia as i have both and the differnce is massive and i cant wait for WP8.

this is good and bad news for nokia. good because its selling very well in finland, bad because the population of finland is not that big enough to make an impact on nokia's sales.

Just got mine for 27k here in INDIA. Let me tell you, its AWESOME !!!

I was considering Samsung omnia w as well. But I'm glad that I made the right decision and settled for lumia 800, finally.

This is the first time that I have experienced such a SUPER SMOOTH lag free experience with any of the smartphones I have used till date. And this is also the first time that I have given a try to any Nokia handset in my life. Honestly, both Nokia and Microsoft rock with lumia 800 !!! A big thanks to them for this extreme beauty !!! And honestly, android feels so outdated in front of this highly optimized windows OS which gives you buttery smooth performance. WP seems to be the future. Keep it up Microsoft !!!

              A proud lumia 800 owner
              Also own galaxy spica i5700, galaxy s i9000 & galaxy tab 10.1 i7500

AnonD-4100, 03 Feb 2012Sorry Ak92774 everyone has right for their own opinion so i... moreWP7 does have multitasking. Its a different approach to iOS, or its clone Android ;), but definitely still there.
I'd say the main advantages over Android is the lack of fragmentation. Loads of devices on Android are still running old versions of the software. Dont get me wrong, if thats fine by the user then so be it, but support in general is bad because of this huge fragmentation thats going on.
As for the OS itself. WP7 has superior social network integration. Contacting people (I suppose the basic of any phone) is a breeze. Whether its on Windows Live, Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn. Soon with the addition of Skype, well, it becomes a social media powerhouse compared to other OS's. Fine, WP7 is still lacking loads of apps, but with the growth accelerating (more than 10.000 new apps in 25 days at the moment), it wont be long before most wanted apps will be on the platform.
On the other hand, yes WP7 still lacks a lot of features compared to Android. Good news is, the latest and greatest has been revealed about Windows Phone 8 yesterday. With the following features coming to WP8; full bluetooth support, microSD, bitlocker, datasmart, NFC. Soon it'll go par with, maybe do even better than, Android. Tho this is the future.
All I can say is, anyone who hasnt given Windows Phone a try, do so. You might be pleasantly surprised. I sure was. Oh and the Lumia 800, one classy handset. Havent seen any manufacturer make anything like it. Certainly not the likes of HTC. Its on a planet of its own.

Hey from Finland. Yep, just 2 days ago I got mine Lumia 800, and...totally love it. Before this I had E52 and I tried also Android-phone (wich was awful). WP is simple, clean, fast and all-in-one OS. Not going to change Nokia to Apple etc., never.

You guys don't have any idea how much they marketing lumia here :) posters, commercial etc are everywhere.

It doesn't matter is it good or bad device, these always sell like hot cakes first because it's nokia.

Same was with N9, N8, E7. All of them was "hit" first month.

But yes it's very good product, microsoft just need to improve their OS to support new tech and we want more memory!!!! C'mon Microsoft what you are doing.

I know memory card support is coming but it's not coming soon.

Motorola would have gone bankrupt years ago without Americans' nationalistic feelings compelling them to 'buy locally' (outside U.S. Motorola's are virtually free, as they are so mediocre). So give the Finns a break will ya.Ps: I'm not a Fin.

And I will answer some Maybe it is different in designe from ICS, Ios 5, Belle but that doesn't necessary mean that it is better and you compare old version of Android os to new from WP clever, Not. You are boy genius when you can say after 10 days of usage of WP7.5 that is better then Android or other M. Os. Meego is better in designe but it is officialy dead platform and ther won't be another device with it after N9. Android has much more functions then one WP 7.5 for example doesn't have Bluetooth data transfer with other mobiles and so much more no true multitasking and only one resolution of display which is bad. Nokia symbian had these things before Ios, Android, WM or WP so I guess it is in that area better OS but . The best device for multimedia device is still Old Nokia Belle Os which has everything but somebody destroyed it with lack of brains and hunger for money Devs and CEO in Nokia did that so I guess they needet some giant in softwere manipulation to gain ground.

Anonymous, 03 Feb 2012Inspite of prior reports that the 800 was selling very well... moreI'm sorry, those aren't poor sales figures. You really need to put things in perspective. The sales were above Nokias expectations and much more than many analysts predicted.
You can't compare that number against the iPhone or all the androids world wide, it's just can't for now. First it was only selling for the last 6 weeks in Q4 and only in limited availability in some markets (in some of them it didn't sell for even 4 weeks).
You have to set reasonable expectations and put those numbers into perspective
