Gmail for Android is getting a dark mode

    all they have to do now is dark mode for google browser

      Dark mode should be not only mandatory, but the default setting. Not just for apps, but for notification cards and all other parts of the UI. More and more phones use AMOLED screens and this will save energy. It will also reduce the total number of charge/drain cycles the battery is forced to endure, reducing the wear and need for replacement. It saves energy, it saves the environment, and if AOSP and Google care about those things then this should be included in Android R and all subsequent versions.

            Dark Grey-mode is horrible imo

              You cannot just reverse the colors as the whole color scheme will look awful. The dark grey color usage as the main background gives more freedom for different tints and shades. Everyone who has been involved in production of themes for mobile phones understands that. And Yes, I also want the completely black color as it used to be for example on Galaxy S back then...

                            Why can't they give us a proper Black Mode? Pure black looks soooooo much better than dim grey.
