The point is the detail levels will be same of 16MP sensor, even at 64MP mode.

I'd rather have downsampling. Details of 64MP but file size of a 16MP photo.

Tetracell structure(or Quad Bayer if you prefer Sony's way of saying it) allows a device to process HDR images in real time and have higher resolution output as one of shooting options, which are both very difficult to achieve on a regular 16MP sensor.

Anonymous, 24 Jun 2019A 16 megapixel 1/1.7" sensor is interesting, but more inter... moreYou're wrong there. Downressing to exactly 1/4th the resolution has many advantages. Including improving bit depth, colour noise and sharpness.
This is not Pixel binning or down pressing though. It combines pixels, which also greatly improves colour noise and I am guessing cross talk too. As a matter of fact, the 12MP photos from the 48MP sensor are way sharper than those from Native 12MP smartphone sensors. You could compare them. These 12MP from 48MP sensors are more in the range of 18MP in terms of detail and sharpness. The low light is also as good as the best 12MP sensors out there, if not better.

Anonymous, 24 Jun 2019A 16 megapixel 1/1.7" sensor is interesting, but more inter... moreThe reason for this is the high resolution sensor uses quad bayer which means that the adjacent red pixel sees the same thing.. It is very different compared to 41MP RGB sensor used by Nokia 808 Pureview.. That sensor outputs true 38MP images with unmatched detail to this day..

And probably no headphone jack, micro SD slot, or NFC. 1 or 2 good features on a phone doesn't make it a good phone, it makes it an unbalanced phone
