Shanti Dope, 24 Jun 2019Weird how these new large sensors are utilized for mid rang... moreWouldn't that make the already costly premium phones even more costlier!??

"The sensor is the largest you'll be able to get in a phone at 1/1.72", resulting in 1.6µm individual pixel size."

The 64MP sensor is an engineering masterpiece. It promises upto 100dB (or 16.5 stops) of dynamic range via HDR at real time. If these photos could be 10-bit HEIF photos, it would help get a huge possibility for post work. At that rate, it will have pics way above any Pixel or any other smartphone in the market right now. I am guessing the low light will be pretty impressive on this.

A 16 megapixel 1/1.7" sensor is interesting, but more interesting will be the 64 megapixel output. It's a common misunderstanding when people say such a sensor isn't intended for a high resolution. That's totally wrong. Pixel binning gives you no advantage over a real 16 megapixel 1/1.7" sensor, it could be even slightly worse.
48 megapixel photos basically need a four times better Iso performance for high quality at pixel level, not every smartphone company is able to achieve that, that's why the high resolution mode is often not offered. Another reason is that not every smartphone company has good demosaicing algorithms.

Is it going to have micro usb or USB C.!

"1.6µm individual pixel size" this quote is not correct, it's when quadbayer so 2x2 is 1,6um, and inividual pixel size is 0,8um. Just like the IMX586 and GM2.

ethereal, 24 Jun 2019Here starts the MP race!Dude calm down this isn't like back in the day, the approach is different this time around, the sensors are larger and they are using quad Bayer tech

This wasn't the case back in the day

both of realme 3 & realme 3 pro have bootloop issues(stuck on bootloop) after install twrp!!

Weird how these new large sensors are utilized for mid rangers, but barely used for flagships.

By default it pumps out 10MP images. You can take 40MP images on demand, but they're not class-leading images. In 10MP mode though, it takes brilliant photos in all kinds of lighting.

D, 24 Jun 2019Can you explain in more detail about this large camera sens... moreThese large camera sensors use quad-bayer technology. What that means is that it takes a high-resolution image (48-64 MP) & downscales it to common image size (12-16 MP). Doing this allows the image to retain more detail in low-light.

As for why does Pixel take better images. First of all, Pixel doesn't always take better images. In low light for example, P30 Pro takes better images.

But yes, generally Pixel takes consistently good images thanks to software processing. Google has the most advanced software processing algorithm in the field, and thus they're able to bring out more detail out of an ordinary sensor.

What’s your recommendation? I can assure one thing, it will be coming by Q4 this year.

ethereal, 24 Jun 2019Here starts the MP race! It's not really a MP race though. 12-16-20-25 MP cameras have existed for many years. These quad-bayer sensors (48-64-80-100) are the same as that, except with benefits in certain areas.

We haven't seen a real 40+ MP sensor since the Nokia Pureview series (not the fake pureview nokia 9). So no, the MP race isn't truly reignited.

                                      Here starts the MP race!
