Short story Samsung and the like had an Android Version and a Windows Phone 7 version

WP7 was Single Core with no memory expansion
Microsoft took an age and a day to release WP 8 which allowed Memory Expansion and Dual core by which time "Skynet" had taken over and every body was Android

Windows Phone 8 is fully functional, its slow demise was due to Microsoft launching Windows Phone 10 an OS so bad it is malware.

During testing it crashed every single Windows Phone 8 device

It simply should not have been released, Hewlett Packard took a gamble and released a Flagship phone running WP 10 out of the box

If WP 10 was ever fixable all that Microsoft had to do was to say release let's call it Windows Phone 12 on every Windows Phone 10 device.

Microsoft stopped producing Windows Phone 10 devices, because this would add to customer complaints

Two years and Microsoft threw in the towel

Windows Phone 8 is or would have been base OS Microsoft had not put out Windows Phone 10
        Windows Phone 10 is unstable

At one time Windows Phone 8 devices outsold Android devices on a monthly basis

App developers follow phone sales so once Windows shut down there were no further updates, and / App removal

        There is Windows Phone revival
It's the lack of Operating System choices Windows Phone died because pride? WP10 failed.
Blackberry 10 OS/ QNX is being developed only in the Autonomous (Driverless) cars ( if you hate security patches not needed.

The Huawei issues are not only Operating System, the issues are memory expansion & internal memory / Bluetooth,

China needs to say to Trump Huawei first, I can't see how China signs any Trade Deal that sacrifices Huawei, 28/06/19 is the first date the Huawei issue will be addressed

Finally the 25% tariff is not applicable to Apple iPhone manufactured in China

Microsoft cannot do UX design, period. The tiles on their phones were a pain and childlike, whilst Android, ironically, was more sensible by actually emulating the desktop - of Windows! (Or MacOS.) I am typing this on a Windows laptop, and find the navigation a pain, no consistency, whilst my Mac and Galaxy Note 9 UX is consistent and nice to look at.
The only pluses of the Windows phones were the superb hardware. Great cameras, build quality and even some firsts like wireless charging I believe. Nokia should have migrated to Android way earlier and used the same hardware.
TBH, if it wasn't for the innovative Windows laptop designs (such as the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 I'm typing this on), Microsoft would have lost the desktop wars to Apple ages ago.

It was only Microsoft fault because there were many fans of tile-based OS.

No plans in the US? What's stopping them from implementing some? It's just cheaper to go for cheap labor. You know, the kind with horrible work conditions, ridiculous salaries, dangerous environments, unpaid overtime, no labor rights or basic human decency and child labor? If I pay twice as much and I avoid someone from suffering this, I'd be very happy.

But, you know, some just think about their own wellbeing and don't care about the consequences of their actions to others.

Anonymous, 24 Jun 2019Indians hate china and huawei is not successful thereAre you kidding me ?
Xioami, oppo, vivo are very popular in India.

Apple was the first on the smartphone market, and got the reputation of well-designed hardware. Then google offered something more open, in particular you can install apps outside google store, at your own risk of course.
Then Microsoft came too late, and it was too closed (you couldn't install anything outside Microsoft store, for ARM based hardware). Moreover, it's as if Microsoft planned in long term to replace regular pc software, with mobile apps, and I strongly dislike this.
Windows 10 isn't better than windows 7 experience, at least for a regular Pc user.

These don't have to be winner take all markets. There is a problem when you don't make a product compelling enough for people to use.

There's a reason Chinese phones come with both a Global ROM and a China ROM. Google wouldn't make censored versions of their services so China Govt banned them.
KaiOS got a lot of support from Google FYI, including cash investments and ports of their apps.
Your desilusions are also outdated it seems.

People aren't going to be forced to switch to Huawei. China isn't the world. They are a significant part, but far from the majority.

Work force and cheap labor isn't everything. Please, now you are pretending to be a geopolitic expert? What are your thoughts on the risk of an all-out war between France and Zimbabwe, Congo and Norway?

I am also afraid, but there are things about Android that Huawei can seek to fix with Ark. My main concern with Google is privacy, Google is so deeply integrated to Android and basically out everyday lives that they must have a profile of each one of s and know us better than we do ourselves, that's freaking scary. If somehow Huawei and Ark could guarantee to us that our information isn't being collected and backed up then I am sure many will migrate to that OS.

I am sure many will come screaming "Chinese government spies" but I'd prefer China's government spying on me than USA as I am sure the worst Chinese government would do is sell me Chinese products for cheap to beat USA's market.
