I've tried Android and iOS but I stick with Symbian.
Belle is simply awesome I like it much more then Android.
I will admit that right now Android is the ultimate OS but even after Symbian I would rather go to WP even though I always hated it. I hate Microsoft and Elop for doing this to Symbian. But won't have any other choice as I want Nokia and Android I simply don't find Android attractive at all.

nokia is good now only from bottom models, from zero, up to models like asha 300. stop. models up to 100 euros. stop. from this point, a whole bunch of androids like sony ericsson xperia mini (2nd model),neo, ray especially and a lot of samsungs or even huawei (!!!!) are better than nokia 500, 701, x7, n8 with belle. what a pitty that so good photo camera was wasted on nokia n8. i hope a future nokia with wm7 or wm8 will have the same glorious sensor and optics from dead n8

AnonD-16334, 05 Feb 2012You are totally mistaken! SGSII Will be getting ICS update ... moreSorry for break a bubble here but SG2 will not run "Jelly Bean" since the phone will not meet the requirements for it, and Samsung is not that stupid for release powerful updates for obsolete or not too shiny new phones (they don't care that much on the buyers/owners)....sad but true...in the mean time "Jelly Bean" came to scene the SG2 will be and obsolete phone......there will be more powerful devices around and will suffer the same fate of SG1...is not my word is the technology path.
If something was learn here is Android devices get obsolete really quick...

Where do you info come from? Since i cannot find it in the article. Or is it just an opinion article? In this case, its base should be more clear on the writing.

Naito, 05 Feb 2012My very first phone was a Nokia 5110, and since hen have ow... moreI would also like to add that I liked the ideas behind Maemo and MeeGo, and it sadden me that Nokia, for the time being, has frozen development of the OS. Sure the recent version of MeeGo lacked some features, and maybe a little too basic with the GUI, but future revisions could have seen it compete - but I guess Nokia was running out of time, and MS had an OS that was already able to compete with the major players...

My very first phone was a Nokia 5110, and since hen have owned a variety of Symbian devices. I have experienced Symbian OS v6.1, V7.0, V8.1, V9.1, V9.2, V9.3. V9.4, and Symbian^3 OS. For me, the last decent Symbian OS was 9.2, beyond that, Nokia was trying to do too much of the wrong thing, after being caught off guard with the success of iOS and Android. This left the Symbian buggy and still unable to match the competition in terms of app quality and user-friendliness. Sure Symbian was fine on non-touch screen numeric and qwerty keyboard phones, but on the likes of a touchscreen phone, it was horrible. Having owned a Nokia 5800 and N97 (N97 being my last Symbian/Nokia phone), I would say Symbian was horribly implemented on a phone that lacked any decent specs apart from on-board memory and camera. Navigation was slow and unresponsive using a resistive touchscreen - the depth of the menus often didn't help that. This was amplified by the lackluster hardware specs of the CPU/GPU and limited RAM. Between constant freezing, unexplainable events that caused the touchscreen to not respond (even if phone was still responding via use of keyboard), a camera flash that reflected onto the lens itself, constant re-flashing to fix bricks, and a long list of other problems - the Nokia N97 and Symbian 9.4 was a nightmare. I knew I couldn't stick with Nokia and Symbian anymore - their slow updates, obvious omissions, successive phones that did not improve on the previous, the list goes on - it seems like they were 'blind' or perhaps dumbfounded by the sudden shift in the mobile market. So I began to look elsewhere - I'm not a fan of Apple, so iPhone was out of the question, at the time I wasn't sure if I liked the Windows Phone GUI, so I was going to settle on Android. However, this changed- after one of my mates, who was all excited about this new Metro GUI purchased an Samsung Omnia 7 and let my use it, my mind was made up. Windows Phone it was. This decision has another benefit too - by picking Windows Phone, I could move on from my Samsung Omnia 7, to a future Windows Phone-based Nokia.
So to sum up, Symbian's doom has been a long time coming due to Nokia's inability (or stupidity) to adapt quick enough to the change in mobile phone market. Combine this with under-powered phones, laggy and un-touchscreen friendly GUI, serious feature omissions (ie fixed-focus cameras instead of autofocus), low-resolution and resistive screens(early devices anyway), and you have the perfect recipe for a doomed platform.

Bart, 04 Feb 2012Former symbian users are moving towards Android not windows... more''Former Symbian-Users are moving towards Android, not Windows Phone''. This is exactly my story. For me it started with an E51 and goes on with N85, 5800, N97, N8 and stopped, only to become an early adopter of Symbian Belle with 701. Because of too much restrictions of WP7, like iOS (no USB mass-storage support, no microSD-slot, no USB on the go), I turned to Android. If Nokia would have managed to bring a real Symbian-Flaggship-Device, I would have had decided else, but since 2 months I'm more than satisfied with a Samsung Galaxy Note.

nokia y u ditch meego and symbian. purely stupid.
was using the 5530 and and i actually liked symbian. its just that the processing power was not there that i wasnt that happy.but the os itself was nice. by that i mean it felt "professional"... not just the full load of applications set out before you.
and im sure meego would have been a huge success. when the n9 was released, that huge anticipation of what it could do was there.
since symbian was doomed to get extinct, i moved to android which was the best possible choice: i dont really like the metro ui and i find ios to make iphone look like a toy.

Bart, 04 Feb 2012Former symbian users are moving towards Android not windows... moreu didn't tried Windows phone i take it because it is way ahead in UI unlike Android , but u might be right to say Android is better but Windows is a new OS it will take some time to get traction and it is already promising OS and competitive, it cant beat android right now but soon it will have a place where it cant be beaten, even android faced the same opposition in the beginning and the I-phones too

[deleted post]Nokia Rulz, I think a lot of people hastily hate Windows Phone because a) it's the 'in' thing to hate Microsoft/Windows, b) they don't realize that it's built from the ground-up and has almost nothing in common with Windows Mobile and c) because Nokia has given up on Symbian, Nokia 'fans' (possibly not true fans), have vowed to go with Android instead, which to me makes no sense, cause they are moving to a different platform anyway...

Nokia seems to have it all backwards. The reason most existing and potential symbian users are jumping ship to other OSes is not because they suddenly had a hankering for bailing. It is because when Nokia announced they would no longer back their faithful symbian users, they created a serious trust vacuum. That betrayal has led fans to spread the word far and wide that symbian devices will suffer a dearth of support so there is no need to bother buying, even with the new symbian versions. Sames for the lovely meego OS (N900, N9)which would have been a really strong android bully. But as always happens when mobile manufacturers get full of themselves (cough, Nokia, SE, Samsung in their clamshell era, Motorola, cough), when you starve your fans of good specs, recent OS versions, updates, apps and proper customer response and care, those fans will avoid all your brand for lack of faith. Even the new MS Windows phone devices are suffering for nokia's and microsoft's bad reputations deficits.

AnonD-33804, 05 Feb 2012is that true..?Symbian's sales rose by 3 million units in Q4 compared to Q3 in 2011 and Stephen Elop didn't like it so he decided to kill off Symbian completely. The man will do everything to erase anything that gets in the way of Windows Phone.
