Anonymous, 27 Jun 2019Motorola is now no better than Blu. Promise upgrades, then... moreThey are far, far worse. Motorola made a nice phone built to last, shatterproof screen, moto mods allowing 5g upgrade, this phone could last 5+ yrs. Then they deliberately do not provide update to allow use of 5g even though they produced the update for the same phone model so that their customers, who paid them for a phone that they were promised would be useful for years, would no longer be able to use it. Blu did it because they are a tiny company barely able to make phones, and unable to make updated software packages.

              Hardly comes as a surprise.
Lenovo's phone division is known for delivering what they promise *smirk*

No worries, unlock models will get it and wanna know why they do this in States? Because Verizon is the one who is planning this about this so called 5G blah blah blah..... They want to be the leader of this 5G thing.

Thing is, it's probably outside their control. Others don't have this amount of partnerships with carriers. Update was ready, release notes were up. Something really had to go wrong for them to back off. Company's chairman Sergio Burniac is not stupid, he took Motorola to success in Brazil. So obviously it's something that's not in their control. Probably the carriers not interested in investing money on a 2 year old device that didn't sell as expected because they didn't market it properly.
If Apple would have brought a shatterproof phone on the market, everyone including the carriers would have gone crazy and market it as the best thing ever since the mobile phone.

The name is LIENOVO, remember this before purchasing another Motorola phone.

LG, Moto & HTC used to be much better at updates a few years ago. It seems they've now changed their priorities regarding updates. Unfortunately they don't have good custom rom support either, so you're likely stuck with whatever old software your device runs on.

This looks likes that Lenovo cares more for Lenovo phones than n for Motorola phones.
Despite the fact motorola is sold everywhere compared to Lenovo which is only in Asia countries mostly China and India.

this will surely help motorola/lenovo maintain the trust of the little fanbase they have left. yep.

Ben, 27 Jun 2019How can you trust an OEM if it can't keep it's promise. It'... moreWhat's meant by oem.?

"Delivering any Android upgrade is a complex process"

If random team dev, with a little to nothing $$ support, and random sporadic beta tester can port to ANY version of Android to ANY devices as long as they got firmware source and made it stable, AND faster than OEM version, I can't even see why this company who ask premium price can't even keep their darn promise.

There must be an international law that force OEM to enable any EOL (not receiving security updated) devices to be unlockable
