Rather than "beating" everyone else to it and making a big song and dance about it, Samsung needs to start focusing on doing things that A) Deliver eventually (hello Fold), B) meet customer expectations and C) remain supported.
I love Samsung as a tech company and their capabilities which exceed those of the competition, but they need to swallow their pride a bit and deliver quality products that speak for themselves rather than putting down the competition to lift their own ego.

Such a pointless feature. We have gone all the way to nice gorilla glass screens for our devices, yet now people want flimsy plastic screens just because it’s foldable. Dumb.

In my opinion in the past Samsung didn't dare to launch the new product because they afraid Huawei would copy and roll out a few months later so they hold it without any specific date claiming that they were fixing the issues. Now Huawei is not as grand as it use to be so Samsung announce that they will launch it ahead lol what a joke the issue they have could be fix in a short time. I hate when they play hide and seek just to delay for the marketing strategy.

The soft plastic screen will look like garba... moreThe plastic protector is necessarily softer than glass, and even the latest gorilla glass can get badly scratched up in a pocket if some grit gets in. I would confidently put money on the plastic screen protector scratching up far easier based on past experience with both plastic and glass screens as well as screen protectors.

A foldable Note be just what most of us creatives want. Bring it on Sammy! Typing this on a Note 9. Need bigger screen for proper sketching experience.

I hate people speaking about phones copying ach other. You realize you have this rectangular block of technology with multiple elements that need to be arranged inside leaving little to no room where to put those elements that pop out like the camera? Even if you could put, for example, the back camera anywhere on the phone, there are only a few places where it would look good, and having so many companies releasing a phone year after year, of course there are many look alike.
That's why the only option to make yourself look different is in the colors of the device, which I must say Huawei is ahead. The Honor View 20 and the P30 simply look gorgeous, and the nova 5 seems like it will look great as well.

Samsung had to learn that the hard way. See how the aggressive copying has lead to increase in sales this year. Good job Sammy.
