Instead of thinner phones why not a larger battery? Bettery life is not enough in any smart phone.

i have the samsung galaxy phone from att and one small thing i would like to see is the ability to have a different wallpaper per screen.
at present, if u select a wallpaper it is spread out over all the screens u have, be it 2 or 4 or...
i also like different options like to have picture fill up entire scrren vertically or horizontally or whatever.
i know i'm being nit-picky but
i like to have different family pictures on each screen :)
also, at present, once it enlarges to fill all screens, it gets so big that it becomes fuzzy :(

ThePhoneShop, 07 Feb 2012What? you mean like the Optimus3D?.. the Note?.. A Laptop? ... more"why do we always have to read about what people want"?
How about because we are (potential, because i'd never buy a fashion toy like today's "top" models) custumers and the manufacturers are doing it wrong?

GSM,
Phone sounds great and thanks for the clear information of what we could be expecting, it's an interesting review and helpful to us who keep track of future developments.

Anonymoose, 07 Feb 2012okay so why is the galaxy being compared to iphone? there i... moreBecause both are fashion toys. They are made to catch the eye, not to have the best quality or the best lifespan.
Yes, Samsung phones are better, but they still follow the same EXTREMELY GREEDY policy. Why do you think SGS1 won't get an ICS update?

okay so why is the galaxy being compared to iphone? there is no comparison what so ever. any samsung product is reliable, not flimsy yet easily replacable. they dont have to be jailbroken to release its true potential, and also putting external memory in is important for those who use various mediums and phones. what happens when an iphone freezes? it happens regulary to most IOS users, yet isnt publicised like blackberry. Also; the 2 year warranty gets you out of tight spaces that insurance doesnt cover, not to mention the spec of the phones. the SII blew the 4 AND 4S out of the water and the sooner people realise that to buy an i-product is just fuelling the arrogance of a company completely created by the social networking generation the better.

Anonymous, 07 Feb 2012Plastic isn't fragile. It absorbs shocks. :-P Glass on the... moreDepends on the Plastic. The plastic in th SII sucked x2 because
1) it was stiff and airy = not the best quality (though far better than that glassy back of a certain fruity phone.)
2) it was shaped like a gaming mouspad (slippery pores) with no friction against the hands so it was super slippery, and I - and everyone else I know who had it - used it with a silicon/rubber/fabric backplate.
Plastic is better than glass at the rear, though steal/aluminium is better, kevlar is best - 5 times stronger than both steal and aluminium in general.
For the SIII i hope Samsung uses something like that rubber/vinyl coating they used on the M7500 Emporio Armani, or like the one Motorola has used on StereMoto (E398), ROKR (first gen iTunesphone), V3x, Milestone/Droid models and so on - which was even thicker and felt better. Hence no use for buying an extra backplate to slap on the back building the phone out in thickness, width and/or height and collecting crap/dust.
Regardless of whether a phone is 7, 8 or 9mm thick, having to use a dinky backplate due to it being too slippery to hold, sucks!

In the spirit of not voting is worse than voting knowing you will probably not be heard here is my input:
Apologies for the caps but this needs to be in caps:
STOP THIS MADNESS! I DON'T WANT A THINNER PHONE, I WANT A PHONE THAT LASTS ME AT LEAST 24 HOURS, PREFERABLY MORE....
I have a galaxy s2, with an extended battery of supposedly 2400 mAh. I used to have the 1650 mAh and it was awfull, you are half way your day and regularly checking twitter facebook email etc and it went orange red and on the way home in the train it dies. Not even played angry birds.
Yes I understand the desire for a good looking phone. Well, 10 years ago some phones were "good looking" as well but they were still the size of a pack of butter. You don't have to go nearly that far just double the thickness of the current S2 and you could have a phone with a true 3500 mAh battery that lasts for 3 days of heavy usage. Play movies for X hours and why not use the xtra space to put more memory storage and a better audio quality headphone thingy. You'd have the killer phone that nobody can touch and everyone has to have.
