We shipped the Puffin OS Phone in December 2019. You can write a review of the phone now instead of guessing how it works. If you need one to write a review, I can give one to you.
The Puffin OS Phone is quite different from the traditional "WebOS" devices. (1) It is very fast due to the cloud servers. It looks most people can understand this point. (2) It is very frugal in data usage. It does not use "streaming", which consumes 10 to 100 times mobile data. In fact, Puffin uses only 20% of data compared to the traditional browsers. It looks like most people can't believe it is possible. (3) Its network latency is very small. The main reason is due to "single round-trip" versus many round-trip for the traditional browsers. Most people do not understand the number of round-trips is the latency bottleneck instead of the single round-trip latency.

Because even Core2 Duo PCs are way more powerful than any of the phones presented. It doesn't help that the Core2 Duo was a very good architecture that's perfectly usable today, doesn't run hot and is easily overclockable.

Anonymous, 05 Jul 2019And you could have gotten that version for free Yup it was also available as a free download, but how could you get it without a web browser first lol. You know what they say, "Don't copy that floppy". (No I wasn't born when that ad appeared but I love tech history and tech in general so I know anyway lol)
Honestly I don't blame the author by saying he's willingly lying. Maybe he didn't thoroughly researched his subject. That's not the website's mission-critical information and who knows how much he has to do besides writing this particular piece. Though sometimes yes there's a bit or two of misinformation (again not with malicious intent). Though I'm no tech journalist either so just take my humble opinion only as an opinion and not a legally binding sentence.

Fast as a flagship? It is called disabling Google Apps. Any smartphone will run like the manufacturer intended from day one.
Cloud processing? Microsoft increased their revenue by investing millions into the cloud, but for average consumers it will not mean a thing. Sorry, Puffin; your spyware will not sell and your campaign will earn less than Energizer.
