    this is basically censorship. the consequences will be very bad for us all.

      There is no such thing as hate speech. There is only free speech and yeah sometimes you won't like what's being said. If the possibility of being offended is the price of Free Speech then it's a price any reasonable person should be willing to pay

        Hopefully legislation like this does not promote terrorism and muzzle right wing politics. Supporting one group and muzzling another is not stopping hate speech, but rather facilitating more hate speech. Its easy to see violence committing agencies like isis, antifa, boko haram and many other getting space on social media. And yet loud mouth right wingers like Alex Jones gets banned. I may find him too loud and crass for my taste, but atlesst he isn't heading a violent insurgent or militia anywhere around the world.
        We need more peace and tolerance. And while such legislation is welcome, it must be truly neutral.

              Well, facebook is for the old, unadapted people, youtube is for people with low-to-medium education, instagram is for shallow narcissists, google search is for people who can't think for themselves.
              Everyone else has moved to other services where "hate speech" is just speech, and personal preferences and opinions are not considered attacks on other people.

                        While not really a topic worthy of gsmarena, all I can say is that what is referred to as "hate speech" is a real mess. Calls to violence are already being banned, and have always been. So is CP. What are they trying to regulate here?

                        The article suggests "discrimination". Discrimination is "treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction towards, a person based on the group, class, or category to which the person is perceived to belong". What exactly is wrong with discrimination according to this definition then? Are we not to make assumptions based on groups? That's... why there are groups. There are certain characteristics that make a group a group. We are not the same and there are differences among people. Learn to accept it. The main difference is in the intelligence levels, which correlates strongly with wealth, employment, infrastructure, education, etc.
