Shanti Dope, 15 Jul 2019But wasn't the SD821 just the other way around, where it on... moreYes and No.
On paper, the QSD 821 was identical to the QSD 820, especially when disregarding the small clock boost. In practice, the 821 was a much better refresh, where it would consistently clock higher for both the CPU and the GPU and maintain that frequency for a longer period, all the while using a lower voltage.
It's the reason why many of the early QSD 820's scored lower benchmark points than the later QSD 821 devices. There were some early QSD 820's, that when you used a Custom Kernel and applied some frequency boost with voltage decrease, it would match the QSD 821... but this was rare, and basically pure luck if you won the silicon lottery.
Still, the jump from the slowest 820 to the fastest 821 wasn't that big compared to a proper upgrade. I think it's akin to the slower QSD 439/450 to the faster 625/626, or maybe even to the 630/632.

With mid-rangers able to play almost any a-list game well, and 855 being an overkill, I can't imagine the plus model bringing much difference in common gaming setups.
Make it support connection to two external screens/vr sets and maybe we have a hardcore gaming device.

It did also support faster RAM, but yes, this is essentially a Snapdragon 820 -> 821 kind of upgrade.

Shanti Dope, 15 Jul 2019But wasn't the SD821 just the other way around, where it on... moreAtleast the highest clocked CPU core in the cluster received a 4% overclock.

This is just stupid and only made so manufacturers make new models and stupid people that do not know what are they buying just get the new model and waste money

This is what the normal 855 shouldve been imo. I was so disappointed at 855s gpu improvement compared to 845

In this case, we actually get more power from both instead of just one.

Guess I'm looking forward for Asus ROG Phone 2 and Google Pixel 4 which it's supposed to be powered by SD 855 Plus. Can't it be simply named like SD856, like a nod to SD821?
