Hmm I dont think Apple are doing this to 'stop' android or try to but a hold on as many devices as possible that are android based but I think they are trying to stop people using what makes Apples devices and OS unique.
Everybody says 'well apple wern't the first to do this or the first to do that'..Its about putting all these features together in one package. Just becuase some other phone had the same feature years ago, doesnt mean they had a patient for it...obviously..or the iPhone would not have a touch screen AT ALL, or semi-predictive text or ANY thing elce for that matter.
I think apple are trying to stop people utaliting all these packages in one simple easy to use user interface, more so on the interface that makes things easily available the user or the very user friendly 'gestures'.
Like the slide to unlock, they want to hold the exclusivity for that gesture. But to be fair, its a bit selfish to hold such a patient because, i mean, how the hell are you expected to unlock a touch screen phone without actually bloody touching it lol i mean.. come on Apple..Really?
And iOS drop down gesture's from the status bar.....how on earth did they manage to keep that from andriod? How have andriod NOT jumped all over that?!

This tells us that Apple is seriously concerned about its future. They never sued any make when they were doing really well, about 2-3 years ago. Now samsung is rapidly overtaking and Apple is just doing what they can do!

This constant lawsuit by Apple are doing nothing to really damage the sales or interest in the Android platform or the manufacturers themselves. The only real damage this is doing is to the consumer...

Apple's becoming the bully in this digital playground. We have to realize one thing. There is only way to stop a bully -- and that is to band together. Unfortunately, people are too addicted to the Apple religion to stand up to Cupertino.

Apple disgusts me more and more everyday!! Instead of finding ways to help the tech sector or license their patents to others so we can all have a great user experience they are gunning for Samsung and by extension Android. Is Apple threatened by Android?

Again? This is really showing Apple for who they are; a sad company who can only win in the market by blaming other companies for stealing from them. I wonder how far is this going to go. What's the next patent application gonna be; the number of buttons on a device? Or maybe the way we hold out phone? I can't imagine why are they even allowed to patent stuff such as the manner of unlocking a screen. This is really becoming pathetic; they are crippling the Android user experience just because Android does it better than they do - a fact which will remain that way: Android is better, and there is nothing Apple's lawyers can do about it.

It's pretty obvious, with all that wealth of $98 billion, they never spend them for charity and never make headlines like Bill Gates did. All that money is to abuse competition and turn planet Earth into planet Apple which we cannot accept.

HTC and Samsung were making smart phones long before Apple came on the scene. If anyone is copying anyone it's Apple! Swipe to unlock has been a feature of Sence for longer than iPhone has been around.

I'm so tired of Apple's crap. They are starting to become very petty. Pretty soon they are gonna say they invented the wheel. I'm not gonna say that Android is better than IOS, but it's obvious that Apple is scared of Android. I'm just sorry to see that the engineers from Google were too busy programming to apply for pattents.

This is sad to see a company like Apple using these tactics to have a bigger market share than to actually produce something new to beat them with. At first, it was ok, their stuff, we get it. Now they look like my 2 year old cousin after someone took his toy. It's just sad.
