OTOH the negative headlines of Huawei abroad earned them additional free propaganda from the Chinese government and they've successfully attained the status of political correctness in China right alongside patriotism. Now they're essentially deified, untouchable in the Chinese market, and a witch hunt is on for "traitors" undermining the "great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation" by speaking any negatives about Huawei.

If you call this poor battery life then maybe you're using your phone way too much, because this thing usually lasts me full 2 days. Sure, other Chinese phones including the Pro version do a bit better in terms of endurance, but that doesn't mean P30's battery life is anywhere close to being horrible. You'll probably be able to understand what it truly means by poor battery life if you use one of recent LG or Sony flagships.
Probably this is not an ideal phone for YOU but is a phone I would openly recommend to anyone who is looking for a decent budget flagship phone once the US vs China trade war settles. Great display, versatile cameras, fast charging and long battery life, surprisingly good speaker quality and finally at least it HAS a headphone jack(so that's a pro compared to all the other phones which lack one).
It's not as good as my S10 all things considered, but I got it at nearly the half the price of it so I don't have any regret about getting this.

Plus, it's not like Apple has the biggest market share anyway. So if companiea want to be Apple so badly, they really ahouldn't expect to be on top or if they are, it will be because of cheaper models, because less and less people want a crippled overpriced "flagship".
Shamsung will feel it too.

Apple may be the best sellers but they are in decline. You'd have to be an idiot to want to spend more money and get less in return for it

If you were correct, then the iPhone's wouldn't still be the best sellers. Most ordinary people just buy the latest phone from their favourite company, and don't obsess about the headphone jack.

It's not good for consumers when companies start using proprietary accessories.
It means more cost and more inconvenience for us.

But for me others things are more important like unlocked bootloader and standard microsd card which are available everywhere and cheap. Why on Earth I have to buy their stupid expensive-proprietary-nano-memory card and you can't even find one locally. That's one of the biggest failure.

It may also be due to them removing headphone jacks and micro SD support from most of their phones. The Honor 20 series was very disappointing

I'm not affected by negative headlines, i know the US is the bad guy and i'd be even more willing to buy a Huawei phone if they had any decent offerings, but they don't.
