28 July 2019
This project started under Motorola (back when Google owned it), all that's left of it today is a pale imitation - MotoMods.

Consumer want it, company despise it.. They would lose the long term income where consumer would keep changing phone..

Project Ara was bought by Google for google wanted it to fail, and no better control over it than you have the power do decide what is going to happen with it

Much better than the modular idea is simply everyone
who buys a phone, to have the choice, like when you
buy a car or a laptop, to select the size, chipset, sound,
display, memory, ports, batery, etc., even after the
ordering, to have to wait certain time. When you pay
more than a thousand € or $, you must have the
chance to select everything like you want it !
Imagine to hear: "I ordered my new phone for Christmas" !

If ara ever took off it would have been an insane hit. Build your own handset would have so many advantages for everyone.

PeterThePanda, 28 Jul 2019Project Ara died because smartphone manufacturers would rat... moreEverywhere is same. Business is business.
Profit margin is the king and main purpose, customer satisfaction and other just their marketing ofc.

From get go, project ara cant mass produce because that. The competitor budget freindly like xiaomi, realme is closing the gap also.

            Bad for planned obsolescence.

Just shove a new pre-assembled, nearly irrepairable model every other month and bank all the way to the bank.

Project Ara died because smartphone manufacturers would rather have people buy new phones every one or two years with bigger profit margins over upgrading modules (keeping the main shell for longer) where they'll get way smaller profit margins. It's all about money and profits, it's that simple.

This modular idea will definitely work with the laptop.
