It was a good surprise, wasn't expecting more updates since Xiaomi became just another kind of Samsung with loads of different phone models despite being cheap. Policcy nowadays with all top brands is a new device every 2 years at most in order to stay updated and Xiaomi caught that same train.

hitardo, 24 Jul 2019I still have a Xiaomi Mi 6 on my pocket. And Xiaomi knows t... moreshould well in China, and got a Blobal version.

I still have a Xiaomi Mi 6 on my pocket. And Xiaomi knows that many users around the World do still have a Mi 6s as their daily phone.
To make them satisfied, Xiaomi is updating the OS regularly.
Xiaomi is a company of number: if numbers are high, we invest; if number are low, we do not invest. Examples are the Mi 8 SE, which never saw a Global version due to slow Chinese sales, but the Mi 9 SE - a very similar phone, except for the size - should well in China, and got a Blobal version. Furthermore, the Redmi Note 3 Pro has a huge success, like the Redmi Note 7 is now, and recevied a lot of investiment from Xiaomi. The Mi 4 has a lot of it in the beginning, but rapidly slowed down after two years, due to its users moving to the Mi 5, which also is reaching its dead point.
The same is valid for its set-top-boxes, routers, and other equipments. More users, more investment.
Number do not lie, but people may have wrong perceptions!

I have Xiaomi Mi6 for 2 years. I always install only the official global updates. No rooting. Got the Android 9 Pie update 1 day ago. The update makes the battery last a lot longer ! I'm impressed. It is the original battery. The phone lasts now 2 days (instead of one and a half) (with the same usage). I always charge at slow speed( 0.5A at USB port, or 0.7A with an old Sony charger). I find fast charging a non necessity, only good for the companies that sell phones. The update screwed up the battery icon (the full part of the battery is now wrongly black instead of white). I plan on keeping the phone for at least one more year. Way to go Xiaomi ! Very good customer care.

This is why i don't buy xiaomi phones, extremely slow updates... It's terrible.

When will this phone get Android Q then?
