AnonD-794992, 24 Jul 2019The way companies treat india is getting so annoying. Like... moreAny company looks for long term sustainability. India is a market with 1.25 Billion people. Something which no other country can match. So yes, tailoring plans for this market makes sense. These companies do not care for poor people. The low cost plans gives them wider user base making up for the lost revenue (if they can't break into this market).

The way companies treat india is getting so annoying.
Like only indians have financial instability.
What about the peopole in africa, or the countries from the Balkan?
I've lived in North Macedonia for 20 years and i know what thay can afford. Even some generic material goods like Bluetooth sound sistem, headsets or cheap tablet is a luxury, indian peopole are not the only ones who need affordable offerings, and they still are making petitions for lower prices, it is just ungrateful and unfair how the companies are treating the consumers in other markets

Because Netflix has better content and better self-developed TV series, I think the price is justified.
They should have gone for 720p quality though with manual adjustment to 480p. My very cheap prepaid plan gives me 2GB data a day, so data shoudl not be a problem.
I heard it is even better for Jio users.

Jay, 24 Jul 2019Thanks for the info. Can you share more info on how to get ... moreHe meant that Rs 199 plan for 12 months = Rs 2388 or Rs 2400 in general and Lakh means 100k (100,000).
Amazon provides Prime subscription for Rs 129/ month or Rs 999/year which covers all the benefits of Prime membership such as
Faster delivery
Prime-exclusive sales or products
Prime Video without Quality compromises and no device restriction, can watch on any device
Amazon music, and many other things
While Netflix is providing Rs 199 mobile plan at 480p. Now that's a joke.

Why would an Indian man with some bit of self respect left for himself subscribe to this man-shaming company?

480p at 199! LOL. Initially, this plan was launched with 250. Due to poor response, they had reduced the price to 199. We are already paying 500+ for cable charges and all other channels are asking for 99 to 149 for a month. We have plenty of options. By Diwali, Netflix will come down to 99.

Its not about 480p or 720p. You should consider about mobile data plan as well. With 720p streaming your per day data balance will be finished in 1 hr. Do you really need that to happen and end up with no data while you return home? Most of the people uses while they commute to office in mobiles. So it is benefit for them. Still its costlier than other services. I guess its the brand value.

Here it is Greedy Netflix India
Long story short you are targeting huge populated country that generate revenue that no other country could ever imagine having said that its only further going to expand more not less so, for fair business 999/- per year makes more sense for the huge audience base which will make up for the lower pricing in return you are commanding more subs than any other country as i said earlier Indian Digital space is future, DOT.

Why all the bashing It's not about bashing. I personally had a Netflix subscription for a few months, and i liked it. Later on, i got busy with other things, so I canceled it.
We are talking in general here, and comparing it with other offerings.

Still not generating enough interest.
Netflix why you are ignoring the competition. Prime, Hotstar & others at fraction of the price with extra benefits.
Moreover, 480p only for the mobile-only plan, you could have included at least 720p to justify the pricing.

Netflix is a lot better on a 55 inch television and a 50+ mbps connection.
No fun watching it on a 6 inch screen with spotty 4G connectivity at 480p.

Netflix, Why grace us with such lavish generosity? why not 240p?
ps. I hope Netflix sinks without a trace in India. Overpriced garbage.
