    Still its a good movement.
When comes to speed and quality nothing beats Qualcomm at the moment but when comes to long gaming seasions even mediatek outbeats apple.

They are not a chipset company but a mobile and hardware company. Tho I agree that they should diversify their chipsets, so I think that producing a dedicated chipset like one Kirin chipset for low-end, mid-range, upper mid-range, and high-end level is the right way to go.

kupfernigk, 28 Jul 2019There is a lot more to a chipset than the fastest single core. Ok, so what makes the 980 the best?

Surely not the single nor multi, nor the gpu, nor the npu, nor the modem speed. I think not even the size (is not the smaller, cheaper to produce). The ISP?

In terms of real world it would be negligible.
Huawei using its own chips saves money which can be reinvested in SoC R&D

The timing could also be as a result of the Trump actions

Qualcomm have been sanctioned by the courts no less for its licencing practices in that both S/W and H/W together you must purchase Qualcomm in order to get licenced.

LG according to reports fell foul of this despite the ruling less than a month after.

Apple can afford this however it's purchase of Intel indicate that the price is too high.

Its made on 20nm sure but that is not a huge upgrade from 28nm, when a eight core A53s struggle on 28nm the hell do you think will happen when you slap in two extra A72 cores also? Besides the A72s biggest weakness was overheating and was not fixed until Cortex-A73 which all run on 16nm to 14nm which would never overheat! You should consider getting a device with Helio P60 or if you wanna go less likely to overheat route then Helio P22! ^_^
