Sails, 16 Feb 2012Do people actually still use MMS with smartphones or is Mic... moreThat's just daft...
Because... you're a whisker away from saying "why do we need texts, when you can just email?"
I would argue that only a TINY percentage of mobile phone users have an email account linked to their phones (I'd say anyone over 40 certainly doesn't!)...
And MMS (for me anyway) is a brilliant, quick way of sending someone a picture in that moment to either have a laugh, show something, etc.... snap, send, sorted! And in particular, better for medium-range phones too... as opposed to many who may only view on a desktop...
HAVING SAID THAT...
It's of course easier to upload photos straight to Facebook / Google+ but then again it depends on the other person having access, etc.

AnonD-21645, 16 Feb 2012The only thing that really made me raise an eyebrow here is... moreDo people actually still use MMS with smartphones or is Microsoft simply wasting their time improving it?
I would think email would give you:
-better price
-better guarantee that receiver will be able to view it
-no limits on video / pic quality, format etc.
Every smartphone has a data plan and can do emails, why bother with MMS?

utouh, 16 Feb 2012its to weak, weak weak OS, Tizen OS of Samsung is very muc... moreTrust me, i had Wave 3 with Bada 2.0. Pretty os, AWESOME phone, but WP7 is just better. Simpler, smoother, with better support, better community AND nice update policy. This restrictions disappear once you unlock your WP device, and will disappear in time, with future updates. Remember, WP7 is a very young OS... try to remember Android or iOS when they were 2 years old. I do remember, and my experience with them was a little worse than with the 2 year old WP7.

Anonymous, 16 Feb 2012nokia 710 is already a low end device, just priced too high... moreA low end or high end device is defined by the relation between the hardware AND the software. WP7 doesn't need extreme power hardware to work at its best. That's why you don't see any phones specd like (high end) Android phones are. For Android OS, a high end device is a quad-core, ultra ULP Gpu and 2 Gb ram phone. For WP7 a high end phone is a single core 1.4, adreno 205 and 512 Mb/1 Gb ram... see my point?
And by the way, let me know when you will use that quad-core cpu in a smartphone. Really use it. And don't tell me that you will play 40+ hours RPGs on a smartphone, cause you won't. You'll hate yourself by the 3rd hour. :)

These screenshots look fake due to the following reasons:
- Windows Phones never show RAM in the About Phone page.
- The device is HTC Maaza and it is installing a Samsung specific app "Samsung Now"?
- The third screen shows the device as Samsung when About us is showing it as a HTC phone.

Mobile StrongBOX, 16 Feb 2012What a crap OS!!! Even old Symbian did not had so much rest... moreI bet you have an iPhone :)
Seriously, MS has opened up a lot since the first release of WP7. And it will continue to limit the restrictions. You must understand that to ensure a healthy ecosystem, at the beginning, this is necessary. In time, this restrictions will disappear. You should remember how limited was Android to when it was launched. This is a way of launching safely and OS on the marked, this is not bad at all. Bad is what Apple does by not loosing the node a little, because they have a strong an healthy ecosystem by now... they would afford to do so.

The only thing that really made me raise an eyebrow here is that the new Tango will allow multiple photos / audio within MMS - which implies that the OS can't do that currently?!?!
It basics like this (as well as many of the things that other people have said, like limited screen resolution, etc.) that is really holding this platform back...
I'm all for as many OSs as possible - it gives us, the consumer, more choice...
But if you look at what's out there at the moment...
iOS - incredibly restrictive but simple interface
WinOS - restrictive, underdeveloped but clean interface
Android - powerful, disjointed, varying performance interface
You can see that there's still scope for more...
For me, the ultimate interface is MIUI on Android... it gives you the slick 'appearance' of iOS - but scratch the surface and it's as powerful as any vanilla Android ROM...
Release a phone with that built in and you have the ultimate user experience...

AnonD-24476, 16 Feb 2012pity On some fools! One should praise for the work of micro... moreYours is the most logical comment i've read in a while.. Metro UI is one of the best UIs.. Android does more stuff than WP but the presentation of all that stuff is unattractive and boring.. Android lags too often because the manufacturers don't care about the user experience.. See the Galaxy Note at&t video by gsmarena and see how it lags even on such a powerful hardware.. Its not the specs that matter, but user experience and optimisation for hardware.. WP and iOS are best at user experience!
