While the comments seem to be focused on the lack of quality mobile gaming titles. There is a subset of customers like myself who are interested in this phone but have no interest in gaming. The combined features available are what I want from my phone, and can not be found on another device at this time. I have little interest in mobile games but will be purchasing this device.

Anonymous, 07 Aug 2019LOL blah blah blah. where the games at? no major developers... moreYour smartphone games are crap and smartphone game market only targeting casual players. You want have proper gaming handheld, het Switch, yes it has games that Android does not have games. Good luck with your Android playing angry birds

120hz is as useful as 4k screen on a phone. Your eyes will notice only a fraction of fluidity comparing to 60hz. Animation will be slightly more fluid for what? None of the games support 120hz, even if it does support would melt your gpu if it will be more complex game than 2d. Useless stuff for braging rights, great

why compare switch to phones? why not, they're both running mobile SoC. You wanna compare them to xbox/ps4? why leave out PC then, they trash everything else. Switch has dated hardware but has the games like you said. So why can't smartphones power quality games too, so bizarre a thought?

2018 Nintendo Switch outsold the rest, maybe read more fool?

Anonymous, 05 Aug 2019Really?! Wow, that's really pathetic for an expensive devic... moreAbsolutely right, Oneplus is the fastest manufacturer to provide updates after Google. They are not very far behind. Also, in terms of longevity, they did a good job since the Oneplus 3 (OP2 owners did get the short-end of the stick). OP3 is updated with Pie as well and got 4 major updates along the way. For phone launched in May 2016, that's a damn good achievement.

Side note, I can't stand their mechanical selfie camera, so opted for Huawei instead.

Oh yeah, and also, I don't care that much about software updates if the software is already very good.

Anonymous, 05 Aug 2019When devs start porting proper, competitive fighting games ... moreMobile gaming won't take off because you still have to use a tiny touchscreen to play games, which is the wackest way to play unless you plan on taking your gamepad with you everywhere. Most gamers have a nice, big HDTV in their living room or use a decent monitor to play high-quality games, both of which are capable of 4K HDR gaming, something that smartphones can't do and probably shouldn't do for obvious reasons.

Do you actually think big developers are going to start making high-quality games that rivals the ones made for traditional consoles and computers just because of this one overhyped smartphone? Who else, besides a few obscure Chinese companies, are making these so-called gaming phones? And why are you comparing the ROG Phone II to the Switch and not way more powerful consoles like the Xbox One X or PS4 Pro? So what if the Switch uses old tech, at least the games are there. It just goes to show how confident you really are about the future of mobile gaming lol and BTW the PS4 is the best-selling console out the three aforementioned ones.

I bet both ROG Phone models won't receive the Android Q update, and if they do it'll be really late. That's why I use OnePlus smartphones, they're affordable, have top-tier specs and receive very fast software updates, probably the second fastest after Google's own smartphones.

When devs start porting proper, competitive fighting games like Street Fighter, MK, Guilty Gear, Tekken, MvC etc etc into smartphones (Mobile SoC's can power/support these games no problem), it will change the way we game.

With hardware like the Asus ROG 2; a Snapdragon 855+ powering a 120hz AMOLED screen, DCI-P3 colour standard & HDR10 support (bet most gamers current TV/Monitor don't even have these specs), Asus's dedicated gaming accessories such as a proper gamepad, plus the ability to be mobile and not tied to your couch/desk is the future.

LOL dunno what some commenters here on about; MOBA gaming is growing every year despite yes, the crappy money grabbing games currently available. The Asus ROG 2 with hardware this capable is an indication for more quality games to launch on smartphones in the future. The device was sold out on launch a huge success, and funny people saying PC/Console gaming is better, when Nintendo Switch running dated mobile SoC (Tegra K1), kinda bad graphics by today's standard, yet the best selling console currently?
