Huawei can make an OS that works no doubt. The trouble is the apps. Can the blockage of the Playstore for Huawei devices be circumvented? Say download to 3rd device from where Huawei can install? Or can app functionality be accessed from a browser leaving apps redundant?

If you can't be sure to present the most popular application in Hongmeng's store, it's better to postpone it first. Acquisition of ApkMirror or collaboration with Aptoide so that consumers are not disappointed with the lack of applications. In ApkMirror and Aptoide there is a beta version of the application to be released, this is an advantage.

Not sure what the big deal is? Most likely it will be an Android fork (AOSP) for apps compatibility. I will be impressed if it is something completely new and unique, but I am not holding my breath on something like that. It would be too much work and effort for something that may not be successful in the end.
