Are you lonely person? why would you want to do that, i don't know about you but almost always when i look my phone it has notifications which i want to see before unlocking my phone.

Funny part of this comment is that Apple already uses way more advanced tech and been using since iPhone X. Face ID. Android OEMS were years late and slowly starting to catch up.
Fingerprint scanner only going to be backup for situation where Face scan doesn't work. Face ID is touchless and going to be the future. Where would you need fps if your screen is already unlocked before you even touched it.

Personally, I would like Apple to do it later, but execute it well... rather than doing it sooner but a half-hearted attempt.
For instance, the iPhone 5S was late with the fingerprint scanner when compared to the Motorola Atrix... but it was executed much better, and worth the wait. Whereas, they did the notch early, but it wasn't done well, I much prefer the Holepunch from the Honor brand, or teardrop notch, or even the OnePlus 6 short-notch.
I hope they use a secure and fast method, and they have a 100% full-display phone coming up, and they integrate the rear camera into the glass backplate like the LG G8 so that there is no Camera Hump. Then it will look and feel like a sleek pebble. It still won't be practical, but that's the trade-off I guess. (A more compact and waterproof ASUS RoG 2 is the practical phone we desire, or maybe just an updated Samsung Note 4).

Seems too late for Apple as almost every important manufacturer already has this technology, but as they say better late than never...
Also hope they finally get rid of the notch for 2020 hopefully...

WOW! Normal for a profit and money oriented company like Apple.
Nowadays, all mobile companies offer this feature in even mid-range phones; not only Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, Oneplus; but also Vivo and Oppo. But Apple needs 2 more years to implement it. They are not bothered about customer's needs and innovation, their primary and top priority is yielding profits from customer's pockets and giving them old featured phones and pretend as if these features were invented by them. RIP Apple! :-)

They are waiting to the drop in prices and then ask 60% more than they pay. Typical from them. Ohhhhh, the new tech from Apple the iSupper iUDID..... WoW that should cost $$$ in 2021!!!! Very premium!!!
