then the market is so flooded with ultimate smartphones. though the entry to mid-range devices from china have the UD FP reader, this doesn't make the new iphone a bad phone. surely iphone lacks many cutting edge features and some of the mid rangers has the same features as flagships, but what make a flagship a flagship is the best end user experience and that is where iphones shine. most of the people who spend more on a smartphone cares about a functioning phone which would last longer. second comes the cutting edge features.

don't trust the poll on a tech websites as this data doesn't represent public.

Then maybe we can expect foldable in 2023?

I wanted to buy a new phone (preferably android) with latest features but switching is a hassle that I don't wanna bear right now. I have been using 6s plus for more than 3 years. I would rather use this one as long as it lasts or least doesn't cause me trouble.

Such tech could be outdated 3 years from now, as its already in the market quite some time now.
Face ID would mean that the 2021 generation and inevitably the next 3 years too will keep having a notch?
That prolly means the end is near for Apple, not even the iseeps will tolerate that for so long, even the Chinese entry phones will be notchless by then.
Today you can already buy entry-to-mid phones with underscreenFP

Changing phones every 1 to 2 years is not a proper mindset on these type of dead investments.

Thanks, i could easily go 4 years with this, just replace the battery, but as i like tech i very likely upgrade this year.

Storage is no problem, every year you need less space because everything is online or cloud. No need to have much on your phone, i have smallest storage and still lot space left.

Like i said if you don't need newest tech, these flagship phones can last years and you hardly miss anything especially with iPhone 4-5 years OS support.

They can also choose to directly go to home screen after unlocking if they wanted to.

i have a 3 years old lumia 950 and excepting a new, better camera there is absolutely no "edge technology" i'm really missing. true, i'm going to replace it at the end of this year but just because microsoft will not provide support any longer... mind that i'm working r&d and dealing with developing that bloody edge technology you are so keen for. sorry to say... the most of the smartphones' "edge technology" is just gimmick to boost the sales....

Apple, once leader in innovation has just became a follower...

Only innovation they offered latley were:
                      Removal of the headphone jack
                      Addition of a notch

                      And sadly, others followed...

So they gave you smaller battery "so your phone can remain slim" which will in turn degrade faster and then they can either throttle your CPU, or charge you for battery replacement. Ingenious isn't it? Or you could possibly run out of storage.

Good luck with your iPhone X for 4 years...

They just need a daily driver which they usually keep as a primary device until and unless it gets defective or unsupported.
I have seen many of friends busy in their management studies perfectly happy with 5 year old iphone 6 or iphone SE.. without the need for a battery change. Sure they sometimes feel jealous of my S8 plus, but that's it. It is where Apple wins hands down. Sure rich people buy iphones every year.. but for an average people it can be a smart choice as well.. as they can keep for 5-6 years without the hassle of switching . AND yes for most people it's a hassale. Don't put everyone in your own shoes.

Actually they do, and people keep their phones longer and longer. If i think my iPhone X, It has almost everything and most people could go easily 4 years with that. There's not much to improve anymore if you just don't want to have newest tech. Current flagship phones last many many years now. That's why smartphone markets are down worldwide.

Just get rid of Face ID. Then you don't have to have a massive cutout in the display. Touch ID is better, don't need Face ID as well
