Samsung introduces 7nm Exynos 9825 right ahead of Galaxy Note10 launch

07 August 2019
The main difference is the new SoC is built on the EUV process node and has a higher clock speed of the GPU.

This isn't just 1nm change. It's an entire fabrication change. And the 9820 is bigger than 8nm suggests. It's about 50mm bigger than the 73mm 7nm socs.

And it's not just about clock increases. It's more about better efficiency and thermal performance. So at the same clock rates the big cpu cores and flex more.

There you go. And all you had to do was talk smack and you learned without even having to research anything yourself.

JohnIsCooper, 08 Aug 2019Look at the GPU specs. 1. Adreno's GFlops are higher. 2... moreFirst of all... that's adreno vs mali. You said snapdragon and exynos.
Yes adreno is still going to almost for sure still be faster. And at the very least more sustainable.
But that does not describe the whole package.
And this will close the gap more in the gpu as well. It should. And possibly bring some of that cpu lead back. As well as efficiency.

However the mali g77 gpu is enough to surpass the adreno 640 and possibly give the 650 or whatever a run for its money.
And yes maybe samsung could have gone 14 or 16 core. At least they are actually putting their efforts almost entirely into massive efficiency gains. As opposed to the last couple generations.
With a bit of a gpu bump and hopefully more sustainable cpu.

Anonymous, 07 Aug 2019Prove that. Show us logic behind that. Look at the GPU specs.

        1. Adreno's GFlops are higher.
        2. Adreno plays emulated games better.
        3. Adreno plays normal mobile games better.
        4. Adreno has better drivers.
        5. Bully (the game) doesn't even give you the option to activate shadows on Android unless you're using an Adreno GPU.
        6. You can't cheap out with Adreno and decide to only use 12 cores like Samsung is doing with ARM's Mali right now.

booldega, 07 Aug 2019Snapdragon 855 still beats exynos 9825 and 855+ destroys it... moreWhere does it destroy it or even beat it? A good bit in GPU maybe and that's it. And mostly the 855+.
You have no idea what you are even talking about.

Samsung Galaxy S10e, 07 Aug 2019Yes, though I wish they increased the speed of it as well.Well, some improvement is still better than none.

Ironically I'm also using S10e (Exynos version) and battery life is OK if you ask me (at least for now) and because of it's small form factor and headphone jack, I really find it as best option for me. I' not that heawy user to need more than 6GB of RAM. But where it really shines is that I got it for around 450€. And regular Note 10 costs around double that price, Note 10+ even more.

I find it insane to pay that much for a smartphone. But Note lineup is special product targeting special customers. And, unlike the iPhone - Galaxy Note actually justifies it's price. It's just not a phone for me.
