Better innovation than iPhone and Samsung note 10.

LG Superfan, 11 Aug 2019Yeah but big companies usually play it safeWhich I think is the reason for low sales

geekacontra, 09 Aug 2019sorry, but you are very much mistaken... the diff between i... moreI was paraphrasing, but the gist of what I was saying is correct.

              Descriptions:
              IPx6: Resistance to pressured spray
              IPx7: Protected from complete immersion
IPx8: Hermetically sealed for continuous immersion
IPx9K: Tight Sealed from steam intrusion

              Testing:
IP66: Survival from high pressure cold water (above 3mins)
IP67: Total Immersion of 15cm-100cm, limited time length undisclosed (upto 30mins)
IP68: Total Immersion over 100cm, extended time length specified (above 30mins)
IP69K: Total Immersion (undisclosed), and High-temperature and Intense-pressure from each angle (above 3mins)

...as you can see, there's little difference between an IP67 and IP68 protection, except that you get more reassurance with the higher testing. There is a massive difference to the new IP69K standard. There is also a massive difference to the old IP66 weak resistance rating.

I just hope that they've moved the quick settings back from swiping up from the bottom of the homescreen to swiping down from the statusbar in the latest nubia UI.

Love these new cameras (This and Zenfone 6) that are using the better quality rear cameras (ultra wide for group & scenery) that can be used for selfies..

I love shooting ultra wide angle and finding a phone that does both for front and rear are rare! I wish the Pixel 4 will have an ultra wide rear to complement the wider front camera but I think it will be a telephoto lens instead :(

I think IP67 is OK for me.. So this could be my replacement for my trusty LG G6 which did get a new lease of life using GCam

That usually mea... moresorry, but you are very much mistaken... the diff between ip67 and ip 68 is just the trial depth: 1mm for the 67 and 3m for the 68, both situations for 30mins. as a matter of fact for ip68 the manufacturer can use a dif time but it is required to be mentioned in the docs. in both situations no 1m + 1h. since you mentioned the standardization, why don't you REALLY check the norms? for rain, shower and splashing an ip 65 will cover it. by standardization... :) anyhow, how often are you dropping your phone in a 3m deep pool and let it there for a half hour?

Andre, 08 Aug 2019I have seen the phone I want.. Practical and design... That... moreExactly, kudos my friend.
The Sony Z3c was the smallest possible phone we've had since the Samsung Galaxy SII. And it had a decent sized screen, decent sized battery, and the top specs for Camera and SoC. And it had IP68 waterproofing (no Removable Battery) and Front-firing stereo loudspeakers. If we applied the principles of that phone today, with modern tech, we would have one impressive device.

The Samsung Note4 was even more impressive in the spec department. It did lack Front-firing stereo loudspeakers, but had an S-Pen instead. It also lacked IP68 waterproofing, but it actually had a Removable Battery... which is boon for longevity and battery life/road warriors.

The LG G5 wasn't as impressive (for its time) as the Sony Z3c and the Samsung Note4. But it was one of the only phones ever to have a Removable Battery AND Waterproofing. It was a low-IP67 grade protection (like the Samsung S6 or OnePlus 7pro), but it was enough to survive a drop in the pool. And realistically that's all you need. The Samsung Galaxy S5 while it had a Removable Battery, it wasn't really waterproof, it could survive some splash-damage but it tended to die easily if dropped into a puddle. I think the only other device is the Sonim XP8 (but its quite thick, and slow processor).

geekacontra, 08 Aug 2019just out of curiosity: why do you need ip68 and ip67 is not... moreTo be honest, I would be happy with IP67.
That usually means a phone will survive rain, puddle, toilet, or a drop into a spa/pool. I usually insist on saying "IP68" because that means the phone has to survive at least 1 hour under immersion of at least 1 metre. So its very standardised. If you look at the requirements for IP67, they're similar (full-immersion proof), but the OEM can play around with the test by saying survive 10mins under half-metre or something like that.
