Apple now partially blocks third party battery replacements on iPhones

The battery will still function but you won't be able to see its health status.

I've been handling electronics since 8y old... don't tell me the barely skilled monkey in the service center is better then me after a few weeks of instruction. Because skilled people don't stay to work in those kinds of places .

Why would you want to replace the battery anyway? Apple fans always say it always just works... guess not then

Only people who have poor judgment skills go to low quality third party repairs. There are plenty of high quality 3rd party repairs that are more likely even better than Apple's (Definitely not) "Genius" Bar (except for milking $$$$ from unsuspecting customers).

And yes, you are right about considering the repairability when buying a new phone, i wanted to buy mate 20 pro but because the screen is to expensive to replace I've brought a mate 20 instead, but still is not fair for the companies to force the consumers to repair their products only in their service centers. Huge amount of the economy is driven by the thirt party repair shops, cars, home appliances, handsets ect. There must be option for repair on our own,
S7 edge display replaced for 120 euros
Mate 9 even cheaper 25 euros
And the phone is like new without drop in value.
But with iphones its a different story

if you buy a part from apple install it yourself then it says faulty that’s just wrong sis. having less rights as a consumer is wrong periotd

2ZZ-GE stann, 09 Aug 2019your missing money in you wallet lolNope, not at all. I buy Apple stuff that's 1 or 2 years old and then sell them on their 3rd or 4th year of life and upgrade to newer products which are 1-2 years old.
Basically, after selling them, my total cost for using these for a couple of years is $100-$200.

And it will be even better with the T2 chips and the 3rd party repair partial block, as devices with original components, serviced only by Apple and authorised centres, will hold up their value better than those "fixed" by unauthorised shops.

I understand exactly what he is talking about. He hates Apple because he focuses on Apple products - it's his business. And if he were to focus on, say, Microsoft laptops or tablets, he would uncover lots of issues with their build quality. Same with other manufacturers.

And knowing all of this, and being a tech geek, I still prefer Apple products over other brands. It's just something about them that makes me feel good when using them and they just seem to work better than products from other manufacturers.
Basically, they feel balanced in all areas, not missing anything.
