The battery will still function but you won't be able to see its health status.

sooner or later apple will ends like Nokia.
This decision makes Apple close His potential buyer from mid segment to try their product.
    is it wrong? No
but Apple must make a great innovation each year to make people willing to buy their product whatever it takes, if not then they must ready to say goodbye to the smartphone industries

toukale, 09 Aug 2019I don't see the issue here. First of all, this does not in... moreThey'll block the hardware sooner than later. As they already did with other hardware if its hardware its altered by a third party. It's only a matter of time, if they still did not it was due to avoid the backslash due to the ammount of iPhones with third party parts today. So they are working on it and find the legal way and momment to disrupt the iPhone hardware from X or Y version to the new and future ones.

Probably one or two more reports of lower sales and the alarms will activate the process to improve the service profits.

good decision - Apple now partially blocks third party battery replacements on iPhones.

Sooner or later, Apple's gonna put some "security chip" on their iPhones or iPads, just like what they did to their latest Macbook line, to prevent users from seeking repairs other than through Apple themselves in order to force users to spend more money with their services.

Go watch some of Louises rants on tech repair. He has a valid point weather you like his stance on subjects or not. Also think of it this way - what's stopping apple from not allowing the phobe to boot if the chip ends with an A insted of an X? The powersource electronics should not be this strict. If it's a lithium battery and it has the same specifications or critical specifications then not making it work like a genuine battery only promotes monopoly.

toukale, 09 Aug 2019I don't see the issue here. First of all, this does not in... moreIt's indeed a problem, it's in a way apple is saying that they can block 3rd party replaced battery, but they didn't... yet. Think about the next step apple will take not the issue now.

I don't see the issue here. First of all, this does not interfere at all with the battery functionality. A warning that alerts an owner or potential buyer the device does not contain an original battery is nothing to lose my shirt about. If anything I see it as a plus for the market of used iPhones. I can't even remember the last time I went under the battery sub-menu where this warning is.

Ifixit is not a neutral party in this, I stopped trusting them when it comes to those things because it affects their bottom line, and they have been too bias and are pushing their own agenda. As long as Apple does not interfere with the battery life and functionality then this is a non-issue. A warning alerting the user if they ever go under that sub-menu is not a conspiracy.

Seriously? How is there no government raising hell about this? This would be the equivalent of GM cars requiring a GM only battery that costs 3X as much and it can only be installed at the dealer.

Of course, few minor exceptions, but that is what rules the world bro. Every business has money as their main goal, you would probably do the same if you owned a business.

Don't get me wrong, I've always disliked apple/mac prodcuts, but they are not doing something that other business don't. Yea, whatever, their phones are expensive, but there is always a brand on each category of product that will have a higher price, sometimes justified and sometimes not, that's life.

Why is the company progressively taking such actions which are gonna compel users to move away from Apple?
