with 256 gb base storage and a 128gb of sd card . I feel I will be more than good with my pictures being at around 100 mb. I look forward to getting crystal clarity while recording ultra slomo videos with such high res cameras . #replace the bulky DSLRs .

IN theory you can shoot 108 Mpix photos which in practice do 27 Mpix.
If pratice your 108 Mpix photos ttakes hefty 100-150 megabytes of disk space per photo which isnt that nice.

Anonymous, 11 Aug 2019İt won't be called Quad Bayer when you put more than 4 pixe... moreFor the 1000000th time.
There is no point of increasing the resolution if the output will end up 12MP again.
That is why there is a 64/16 one. To give more details, something 12MP does not have enough. Reason cellphones need to create detail where they are not supposed to be.
This kind of sensors combine two different exposures.
Reason why this kind of sensor offers more DR than native 12MP.
You cant do with odd number.
This is not regular binning like G7 does with that bright night mode. This is not like OP6T.
It is same of those 48MP.

Anonymous, 10 Aug 2019Quadbayer cant group 9 pixels.
If it could, it would not ... moreİt won't be called Quad Bayer when you put more than 4 pixel together obviously. Principle is the same. Pixel binning is not a new tech. What Quad Bayer differs is sub-pixel arrengement. It's easy to implement it with a different sub-pixel arrengement.
More pixel is required bu marketing, but it's fine hence they provide larger pixels at binning mode.
Smartphone cameras has basically two function consisted of video and photography both.
4k video requires at least 3840 pixels horizontally. 12mp is sweet spot for 4k video. They have 4000 pixel horizontally. Extra few pixels useful gör EIS cropping.
48MP sensors produces best quality at 12mp mode which is sweet spot for 4k video shooting. That's not coincidence.
64MP sensors will have same pixel quality because their pixel size is same. So we will get sharper images with same quality pixels.
But video quality will be the same.
Now let's talk about the possibilities of 108mp sensor. İn that case 0.8 micron pixels, the sensor will be too large for smartphone form factor. You can read it as 15mm thick camera module. Even thickest mainstream phones today is not thicker than 9mm. Nobody will buy a phone with 6mm thick kamera bulge. If you make the phone thick accordingly with large battery, it will be way too heavy and unwieldy.
Also despite the extra pixels and all of those cons, video quality won't be better than 48mp sensors. İt can't also shoot 8k.
So in order to reduce thickness they need smaller sensors and pixels.
If they reduce pixels size further, even with pixel binning video quality will be significantly lower than 48mp sensors. Even image quality per pixel will be lower.
3x3 pixel binning will provide magic 12mp number. Both still image and video quality will be stunning also they got marketing advantage.
