... moreOne little detail you forgot.
Crop factor.
The aperture will not have same value for different sensor sizes.
That is why full frame needs just f8 to catch same amount of light phones with f1.4.
Many lenses can even go f22.
F1.7 + 1/2.6" is not same diameter of f1.7 + 1/1.8"

What's surprising to me is that nobody here is talking about the thickness needed for a device with a 1,33 inch sensor. Huawei's P30 Pro is already at 8,41mm+large camera bump with a 1,7 inch sensor, and a device with a 108 MP sensor would probably require more lens elements to resolve such a high resolution? Maybe we can get some bigger batteries inside if they are 'forced' to make thicker devices.

Anonymous, 12 Aug 2019This sensor is for Xiaomi only. Xiaomi does not use exynos.Xiaomi does promised us that they'll equip this sensor, doesn't meant this sensor is exclusively Xiaomi only. This sensor probably would be used on some "budget" flagship line (Oneplus, Mi, Honor, etc)

IpsDisplay, 12 Aug 2019I came to this article just to find a comment like this
... more"Remember more cameras don't equal better picture quality"
I agreed with this, more camera doesn't mean better shot quality, however it does provide more features, for example telephoto camera and wide-angle lens, that some people need.
"Remember better camera lenses doesn't equal better picture quality."
For some niche photography theme, this statement works, however if you mean this as general camera quality, it doesn't, better lens means sharper picture, less distortion and less vignette.
"Remember better f stop doesn't equal better picture quality"
In bigger, interchangeable lens-style camera, this statement works. But in fixed-lens style camera, which is the whole phone camera, it means wider apperture, more light, better low light performance.
"Remember paying 1000 usd for a flagship doesn't equal better picture quality"
Agreed. However, i don't think this sensor would ever equipped on a phone with price at that much (Galaxy S series, iPhones, etc), mostly would be "budget" flagship series (MI, MI Mix, Poco, Lenovo Z series, etc).

You could remove the noise either by downsample the resolution or using noise reducer on some photo editing apps (with the cost of losing some detail).
However you couldn't increase detail (detail isn't sharpness) from a photo from a smaller sensor to make it look like taken from a bigger format (any contradicted comparison means poor lens or processing engine).

This is like a drug itch people just can't resist to speak
Are people blind to the sensor size of this camera??
Or they ignore pixel binning
But don't stop there you can also say:
Remember more cameras don't equal better picture quality
Remember better camera lenses doesn't equal better picture quality
Remember better f stop doesn't equal better picture quality
Remember paying 1000 usd for a flagship doesn't equal better picture quality

If the sensor can do 6k without windowed mode (employing the full width of the sensor), it means that it read the full sensor data at 30fps and downresses it to 6k (21MP?). That's pretty fast. Plus it seems to have (atleast) dual ISO (it could have multiple ISO settings). Hopefully Samsung uses this very same sensor in its next S Series phone, and uses some superb ISPs and the next generation Exynos processor, to get Super HDR photos (hopefully in HDR10+ in 10-bit format). I can see this hitting 17 stops of dynamic range in HDR mode. If Samsung uses a super sharp lens, along with OIS, it could a monster od a smartphone camera, easily rivalling that of the very best point and shoot around for detail, and DSLRs for dynamic range (in HDR mode) .

Nick Tagataka, 12 Aug 2019FYI Exynos ISP is capable of encoding 8K video at 30fps.1) xiaomi does not use exynos, nor going to
2) Even full frames have issues with heat doing 4K. Of course a 8.6mm cellphone would melt down since most of them have countdown for 4K30 recording up to 10 min.
