Holy hell per a brief skim these look like some BS invention patents - 'a portable device with a wide and tele digital cameras', 'a device with wide and tele cameras that uses sensor data from both somehow', 'a miniature lens with 5 tightly packaged elements', 'a device with wide and tele cameras that switches between them seamlessly when zooming'.

Some are vague descriptions of mere software operations (not implementations, which would instead be covered by copyright), have prior art (Anandtech talked about seeing some of this stuff demoed in ~2010 by intel in their discussion of the HTC M8), have such similar antecedents as to be trivial extensions (failing the "novelty" requirement), or several of the above.

The cynics live at Apple. Violating patents and then suing other due to that. Time to pay again with compensations for all the damage done to Corephotonics and now Samsung too.

Why are many comments cynical about the regulations issued by Apple. If you don't like it, it's easy, don't buy it.

                    They should be suing Sony.

It's a basic tenant of capitalism to charge as much as the market will bear; for some products people are willing to pay more, for others, less.

Anonymous, 15 Aug 2019This is what is happening in China in case you did not know... morePatents definitely have a place, but technology patent terms need a serious reconsideration. When the patent will become obsolete long before the expiry, the intended purpose is lost. SOFTWARE patents, on the other hand, should die a fiery death. Software is already well protected by copyright.

                            But of course. It's apple.

What comes around goes around , , a few years back they used to sue other mobile companies. Now it’s karma for them , with their far fetch price tag and lack of innovations, Apple is going to flop even more .

Apple will stall it out as long as possible then pay off whatever it ultimately costs.

Before you leap to there defence (Apple's) Remember if it wasn't for the small guys there would be innovation or competition! Still remember what happened to Microsoft.

Apple have done these things many times.

For example, Apple owes Ericsson billions in unpaid license fees going back many years. They refuse to pay because they know that American courts will always side with Apple, and that a Swedish company cannot do anything about it.
