Even though I am not a fan of Apple, I actually liked the iPhone more than Sony phones.

Dunno, I've been charging my iPhone XR with UGreen QC 3.0 charger quite quickly. Been using the dual port charger for quite a while for a range of devices and it's very fast. And it's not even Power Delivery (PD). Now I just use the Qi charger anyway so I don't really care about connectors anymore.

I bet for an USB-C in the charger but lightning connetor in the phone.
Although it doesn't matter if the iPhone has USB-C as they have chips inside the iPhone for controlling the authorized batteries, authorized hardware.... A generic cheap USB-C high power charger will not work! So you'll be equally with the low power or mediocre powerful one inside the box and buy their new shiny BIG one for $100. Plus maybe authorized ones that paid their license at who know how much and what specs.

Yet, the iPhone 11 could still lack a USB-C port. They're just mocking potential iPhone 11 buyers while the 11s will likely get it. More cables being used that they become entangled.

I wish they made a type c to lightning cable. I would laugh off all my clients who have the new iphone. Oh you bought a new phone and my regular charger doesn't fit, but i have cables for android phones ranging from 2008(ok, i know there were a few with a mini usb and not micro or type c port, but still) to today? Meh, buy a phone from a company that's not greedy beyond recognition. Also it's strange that apple doesn't solder the cable to the charger, could save some change on the usb connectors.
