    The LG G5, Sonim XP8, and Samsung S5-Active are the only water-resistant phones with Removable Batteries. These are great designs, that just needs more polish and updated specs.

    The likes of the LG V20 and Samsung Note4 were very compact for their display size, and quite durable as well. Sure they lacked water-resistance, but they have Removable Batteries which ensures they survive for a long time.

    And then you have the Sony Z3 Compact (and Z5c, Xc, XZ1c) phone, which is the smallest phone we've had since the Samsung Galaxy SII. It has flagship components, and a very large battery in a tiny frame. It has Front-Firing Stereo Loudspeakers and is actually Waterproof. Honorable mentions go to the Motorola Moto X (style) which, like the Sony, had great speakers, flagship features, pretty compact for its size, and lacked a Removable Battery. But it did have a weak water-resistance like the Samsung S5.

    ...just imagine what a "pro-consumer" device can look like today!
    Let's say there's Three Variants:
    - Small/Lite
    - 108 x 59 x 9mm dimensions
    - 4.42in 1080p screen
    - 3,000mAh battery

    - Medium/Pure
    - 126 x 69 x 9mm dimensions
    - 5.22in 1080p screen
    - 4,000mAh battery

    - Large/Pro
    - 140 x 78 x 9mm dimensions
    - 5.86in 1080p screen
    - 5,000mAh battery

    ...and all phones coming with Unlockable Bootloader, Slim Bezels, Front-Firing Stereo Loudspeakers, High-Quality IPS displays, Removable Batteries, Splash Resistance, Durable Bodies, microSD, DualSIM, IrDa blaster, QuadDAC, FM Radio, Headphone Jack, and all flagship specs etc etc... then no-one would buy a Google Pixel or OnePlus phone!!!

        I was a meizu mx5 user and i must say flyme is the best customized Android OS but the only downside is their extremely slow updates.

          I'd been using FlymeOS for almost 2 years and i have to say that software was pretty horrible. Many features were missing and the drop down quick settings slider was horrible. They also had very rare updates with many annoying bugs. The hardware was pretty good, but the software was seriously holding those devices back.

            FlymeOS is still the best AndroidOS around.
            However, myself and many others value getting prompt and constant security updates and platform updates to our phones. For that reason, we resort to using either AndroidOne, PixelOS, or OxygenOS. And then there are Custom Roms like ResurrectionRemix, OmniRom, LineageOS.

            So if Meizu wants to survive (or thrive), they really need to change their gameplan. They're dying in the Chinese Market, and have no presence in the International Market. So they need to move towards a niche. Right now most niche's are filled.
            But there's a HUGE gap in one market, and it is the "pro-consumer" niche. They can perhaps make great phones which have all the features with none of the Planned Obsolescence. I'm talking displays that last longer than 4 years, batteries that can be hot-swapped, designs that are not fragile, software that's developer-friendly, and no compromises on features.

            If they can't do the above, it's probably in their best interest to be merged to another company. Probably not Xiaomi or Huawei, so either ZTE-Conglomerate or BBK-Electronics.

            Otherwise, Meizu has to take current devices from other OEMs like Xiaomi, Redmi, Realme, OPO, Oppo, Vivo, Lenovo, Motorola, HTC, Honor, Huawei, ZTE, TCL, Alcatel, Foxconn.... ...then offer their own Operating System as a separate sale to consumers/manufacturer. A strategy that won't work, since they are not offering iOS/Windows. Just ask SailfishOS, and how many people have purchased that for their Sony Xperia and LG Nexus phone.

            Other than that, the only other alternative (which again won't work), would be to make a great phone, at a great price, and give their customers a free perpetual upgrade every year. They can perhaps make a $300 phone like Apple, and sell it for $900. And give their clients a free upgrade the next year (provided the phone's in okay condition). And the refurbished phones can be sold (like Apple) for a $300 price to recoup the lost revenue. However, the phones will HAVE TO SELL for this alternative to be possible, which means the phones have to be that good and the market/demand for it has to be strong and stable. Otherwise, it won't work for a small company.... it could work for the likes of Microsoft just giving away some cash reserves.

              I have a Meizu M5 Note it's actually a really good handset and very capable bet they don't seed the update to this handset.

              Although to be perfectly honest I think Meizu are sealing their own fate with carrying on with Flyme, they should focus on running pure Android on their devices imo.
