But your case does hold validity. Good point.

But, what if you forget your MicroSD card inside your phone while giving it for repair and then the repair guy copies the contents of the microSD card and puts it back, all done without the customer knowing?

Let's say you send your phone for repair, the photos inside the phone storage can't be easily take out and you will worry the private photos will be get hacked, while if you save in the SD card you can take out without hesitation and transfer it to another phone, you can insert into the second phone and use it as usual.

Different people have a different understanding of the word security. For example, you may encrypt the microSD card and think you are safe, but that is not the case. MicroSD card encryption is very feeble for hackers who are dead-set to extract information. It just prevents a layman from accessing your data.

And we all know how cloud storage has been hacked/ personal data viewed by people belonging to the company which owns the cloud storage.

It seems like nothing we do these days can prevent our data from being misused.
But this should not mean that I don't believe in data security. We all must implement the best possible practices to keep our data safe. My friend was ignorant, that's for sure.

Only when a huge scandal comes up and is covered with media, do people realize how important their personal info, which seems irrelevant to them, has been used to influence them. Eg: the Cambridge Analytica scandal.
Even now, people use "sign in with Google" or "Sign in with Facebook" on random websites, just to save a few keystrokes and in turn giving up VERY POWERFUL personal information to dubious entities.

Personally I think that the MORE LOCAL the data is, the safer it is. Let's not use any media that can be used without our presence. Ideally, I would buy a 10TB server, disconnect it from all network, use the best possible encryption, and store all my data there.

Is it you Pro, 06 Sep 2019My advise, photos must save in SD card not internal storage... moreI am sorry for your loss. However, your situation is much better than my friend's. Her phone got stolen. She had put a lock screen password on the device, but the memory card had a lot of pictures, some of them very personal. She had st*pidly even taken a pic of her debit card and ATM password (lazy young generation). Luckily, she blocked her card on time and the photos(as of yet) have not been put out.
I think it is better to take regular backups of your photos and avoid microSD card altogether.
Since phones stopped using these, the microSD card companies are paying less and less attention to security.

Of course, I am pro-choice. So I would prefer 256GB internal storage (UFS 3.0, for those who absolutely never want to use a microSD card) + a card slot. Especially when the asking price is $950.

Well even if its clone Sony Music app on top of Huawei's built-in Dolby Atmos sound system, it still got its own quality & doesnt feels cheap.

I simply using Dolby Atmos on, select for 'Music', set 'Open' option as i use the on-ear earphones. For in-ear, i'll use 'Rich' mode. It works in the Sony Music apps & effecting your overall sound system, including speaker. Normally using 60%-70% volume level.
