Trust me, if they hadn't provided this mode, the 41 MP sensor wouldn't be much better than a gimmick for me too.
I am gonna use the 5MP (or 8MP if 4 or so pixels are condensed into one) for taking my photos. It will give very good quality photos while keeping a restraint on the image size.

What use is this unless you are going to enlarge the pictures to an absolutely enormous size; say upwards of 60 inches? I remain to be convinced on anything smaller there will be any discernable difference.

As for the resolution bashing, keep in mind that it has got much better pixel density than that horrible Galaxy ACE.
I own a X7 which has similar screen and let me tell you, the pixel density is more than enough for normal users.

41 mp? i think thats useless if the sensor in this phone is the size of a compact camera its worthless.

I don't know if you guys can read or not, but, with 808 you can:
- Take 38MP photos with normal picture quality (similar to N8 or a bit better I guess)
- Take 5MP photos with awesome picture quality and amazing details.
So it offers the best of both worlds: if you want megapixels for HUGE photos you can have it, or if you want quality for AWESOME photos, you can have that too.

Sorry, so is the concept we are looking at the same as taking a 5Mpx photo, opening it in Photoshop and then reducing the size to a crystal clear 1Mpx image via the help of a bicubic algorithm with sharpening?
I'm not against the idea, I'm just thinking that is not really a very "efficient" way of producing fine-detailed images. Surely an ultra-dense sensor would produce fairly noisy pictures, so wouldn't the end result be similar to a standard resolution sensor?

Samsung's da real deal u guys. If u check da phone specs u'll c dat nokia seems to hav borrowed AMOLED tech from samsung(bcuz if it hasnt, den theres a lot it has to ans fos). Samsung's playin a clever game w8in for all dese small crackers to fizz out b4 revealing its artillery on march 15. Rock on sammy!
