Leaked Pixel 4 ad focuses on hand gestures and Google Assistant, not the tele camera

09 September 2019
The ad touts the low-light capabilities of the camera instead. No mention of the 90Hz screen either - this ad focuses on the wrong things.

I just think that great software isn't enough to justify Google's greediness and damn high price tag. If you charge $1000 for a smartphone please be sure that hardware wise it's not worse than other much cheaper ones.

Then it sits doing little while I sleep. Once I work, I commute to work and have to plug in the same port to play music through my stereo. I may also top off the battery at work. On the way home, aux cable back in, for music on the drive home. Get home, and it needs charging again. That little port is getting some serious hammer through the day. You effectively half the life of the port.

And so far in the Android world Google is the best at software.
That is why Pixel Camera is ported to other devices, not the other way around.

I'd have to remember about that stupid little dongle whenever I want to connect headphones, or AUX cord. There's no convenience, nor audio quality improvement in there. So why would I want that?
It's not progress, since we already have IP68 water resistant phones rocking both USB-C and a headphone jack.
So again, why would I ever want that?

Seems like Google took down the video.

Also the battery is quite small for 2019 and 6GB RAM doesn't look attractive anymore. So it's hard harder and harder to justify such a high price tag having a range of high-end smartphones with the same specs with much better price.

Shadocx, 10 Sep 2019Unless you use your headphones while charging your phone I ... moreSometimes I charge and listen to music, but what I'm doing mostly is switching between my 3 pairs of headphones, which I'm using depending on situation. And I don't want to play with dongles to use my accessories without a problem. Or buy more dongles.
I don't care all that much about the best performance, it has to be good enough, that's why I'm hoping Pixel 4a will have a headphone jack just like Pixel 3a has one.

Looks like copy of Mate 20 but with far worse specs and bigger price.

Most Apps (almost all of them...) are not optimized for 90Hz display... they will fallback to 60Hz.

The 90Hz is just a gimmick like on the TVs where 120hz vs 240hz, most of the TV content (aside from Blu-ray discs) is still 60 Hz.

don't buy a phone just because it has an launcher that works at 90Hz....

Google assistant is that thing that prevents me from using gestures when I swipe too close to the corners and I can't even disable it? Wow, an entire phone centered around a bug...

What will astronomical photography do?

Download space photos from the internet and mimick as though you are shooting it?

I'm really interested in Pixel phones, but the lack of headphone jack is killing it for me.
Maybe we'll see Pixel 4a next year, with all the goodies from the flagship series, that might be my next buy.

The third sensor might be just ToF one, since it's smaller than the other two.
