I just think that great software isn't enough to justify Google's greediness and damn high price tag. If you charge $1000 for a smartphone please be sure that hardware wise it's not worse than other much cheaper ones.

Shadocx, 10 Sep 2019Unless you use your headphones while charging your phone I ... moreFor me, it is the wear and tear that makes it a pain. My Pixel 2xl has to have a wire in to charge. Then it sits doing little while I sleep. Once I work, I commute to work and have to plug in the same port to play music through my stereo. I may also top off the battery at work. On the way home, aux cable back in, for music on the drive home. Get home, and it needs charging again. That little port is getting some serious hammer through the day. You effectively half the life of the port.

Jon Dough, 10 Sep 2019Android 10 allow you to swap between gesture navigation, 2 ... moreWell, when I use gestures, I wipe upwards from the bottom, but if I do it close to the corners, instead of the gesture taking effect, I get the google assistant pop-up, and if I disable the google assistant, it still appears, but with the message to enable it, so basically you still have it, just not functional.

And so far in the Android world Google is the best at software.
That is why Pixel Camera is ported to other devices, not the other way around.

I'd have to remember about that stupid little dongle whenever I want to connect headphones, or AUX cord. There's no convenience, nor audio quality improvement in there. So why would I want that?
It's not progress, since we already have IP68 water resistant phones rocking both USB-C and a headphone jack.
So again, why would I ever want that?

Also the battery is quite small for 2019 and 6GB RAM doesn't look attractive anymore. So it's hard harder and harder to justify such a high price tag having a range of high-end smartphones with the same specs with much better price.

And I don't want to play with dongles to use my accessories without a problem. Or buy more dongles.
I don't care all that much about the best performance, it has to be good enough, that's why I'm hoping Pixel 4a will have a headphone jack just like Pixel 3a has one.

Most Apps (almost all of them...) are not optimized for 90Hz display... they will fallback to 60Hz.
The 90Hz is just a gimmick like on the TVs where 120hz vs 240hz, most of the TV content (aside from Blu-ray discs) is still 60 Hz.
don't buy a phone just because it has an launcher that works at 90Hz....

I'm really interested in Pixel phones, but the lack of headphone jack is killing it for me.
Maybe we'll see Pixel 4a next year, with all the goodies from the flagship series, that might be my next buy.
