Its not about hw limitations, but about r&d limitations, like when using just raw or using AI to find right lightning, take few shots for less noise and better hdr using multiple sensors for detail and sensors for color - if its 2 idedtical sensors, even if raw got more information, it hits the limits of sensor and you may find missing details in bright/dark areas and noise is mixed with content. Just because size of sensors is different, dslr/ still persevere.

Noob cameraman, 12 Sep 2019Why mirrorless cameras are more expensive even though they ... moreBecause the body of the mirrorless is not as big as a typical DSLR, so some compromises might needed to be done to cramp loads of hi-tech feature in a small body. Different story with DSLR as they are not limited to size.

Another factor could be the tech itself, there are some features that we seen in a Mirrorless camera, but not in a DSLR.

vrvly, 13 Sep 2019Right, but phones got more and more of them in one body, te... moreBut as long as smartphone camera sensor are still small, it would never catch on with the quality of a proper DSLR or Mirrorless. Heck, we don't see any smartphone with 1-inch camera anymore after the Panasonic Lumix CM1.

And another thing: Unlike smartphones, DSLR and Mirrorless didn't rely on computational photography. It's just the hardware itself (body+lens) doing the job, post editing comes from yourself.

SpiritWolf, 12 Sep 2019Lens matter a lot. Phones can now simulate aperture and multiple lens, but with time they may simulate all. If you also compare quality from 10years before and now to full size cameras, its easy to guess the future.
There is also big difference in entry level price, 140 vs 700.
In the next few years even I will enjoy mirrorless, may be different after years of upgrades to like 20lens and 400mp. I mean even 10lens and 192mp is not so far.

I love my Fuji X-T30. The good thing is that even if you're too lazy to edit your photos, most of the time you don't have to, the jpegs are nearly perfect already. I set hightlights, and shadows to -2, dynamic range to 400%, choose velvia film simulation for more vibrant colors and boom, awesome photos!

SpiritWolf, 12 Sep 2019Lens matter a lot. Right, but phones got more and more of them in one body, tele, wide, s wide, macro, tof, different aperture... It's also just beginning. Won't say they will fully replace cameras, they will try over time though because you want to have all in one.
Quality is getting better at high pace.

Just trade my Sony RX100 vi with Fuji X-E3 last 2 weeks...1" sensor on Sony has limitation..yes i lost the compactness, but in return i got that creamy results, filmic looks color & contrast goodness from Fuji. Seriously, i will keep it at least for the next 5 years. Rangefinder cams are just my style.

Fujifilm called as 'poor man's Leica' for a reason, and as a person own a Leica before, its got the similarities. Why i dont get new Leica? Well dont want to sell my car lol!

Beginners or not, I would welcome 6" screen to see where it is focused and to have better control on-screen with UI and touch to focus.
Mirrorless are great move regarding the size of old dslr, still they do not catch up with trend of bigger screens and flatter bodies, even PCs are not cargo container size anymore.
By how much money is in phone camera business, how fast its upgraded and how it is more easy to buy and use on the go, it's clear that full size cameras got to copy them.
Mate30pro like device with 2times the sensor size (with all sensors) and processing power would annihilate all mirrorless.
