From what I've seem, Sony's internal design is kinda crappy and waste of space.
There's a piece of the motherboard for the buttons which goes down the length of the phone. That space could definitely be used for more battery, just use some ribbon connects for the buttons.
Plus no Wireless charging? That's seriously just a piece of coil connect to the back panel.

I read comments here. Sony fans today are the same like Apple fans. They do all they can to praise Sony much than Sony deserve last 3 years. The same mentallity like Apple fans.
This phone DOSENT DESERVE to be priced on 799 euros!
You can buy 10 phones on that and lower price who have better specs.
Is not all in design.
To be honest, i love Sony, i love this design, but this phone is NOT compact, is 158mm device. Competitors like Huawei in my P30 inside 149mm put 3.500mah battery, 3.5mm audio jack, almost no edges and Emui software is boring now, but is much funny that this Sony old school UI software. Looks like modernised LollyPop.
For 800 euros you MUST have 3.5mm jack under this dimensions and much bigger battery - is SHAME!
Arogant Sony never learn, just like Apple.

Displays that require high brightness in order to achieve contrast and avoid pwm are not good displays. Samsung small OLED panels are best in the market no doubt but that has nothing to do with Samsung Galaxy choice of screens.

And it's not just my opinion, it is the well known fact. By the way, your beautiful Xperia 1 Bravia display is actually made by Samsung as well as 2 out of 3 rear camera sensor. So now you know who is the king of the hill! Cheers!

I'm just glad they started introducing manual video recording. Manufacturers focus more on dumb people who use auto on everything. I'm glad Sony remembers they are for professionals and amateur video recorders.
Gives people a reason to go Sony. If only they were marketing it 200% more in order to get some attention..

It was shipped with 7.1.1 while XZ came with 6.0.
Both needed to end up with same android, in this case 8.0.
XZ Premium went from 7.1.1 to 9.0.
XZ2 will earn 10 in november.

Recording video in 4K HDR and then viewing it on HDR10 display tells you how much you are missing compared to SDR video. Reason why P30 Pro can't record HDR video is not the camera but Kirin chipset cause it doesn't support the command. Chipsets are not all about performance.
Since you have all the phones you've mentioned Xperia 1, Google Pixel 3 XL, Samsung S10 and P30 Pro I have no doubt you have some of the latest UHD TV with LG sourced OLED state of the art panel such as Sony or LG to appreciate the difference of HRD video available on Xperia 1. Samsung S10 and iPhone XS

The main camera is from Sony the others are from Samsung but the good one is from Sony.

Also, just for information, 2 out of 3 Xperia 1 camera sensors are made by Samsung and seems the screen as well. So certainly Galaxy S10 is a winner here which has better camera system and brighter and better screen (please don't tell me that you can see the difference between 3k and 4k screen). Regarding Huawei P30 Pro, his camera system is unbeatable right now, beyond competition. And so the battery life.
