Huawei fans are similar to Apple fans in one thing - they blindly follow the brand and believe every claim of their beloved brand. And are often oblivious to what happens around them because to them - only their brand exists. Unlike Apple fans, Huawei fans are extremley loud when it comes to spitting on another brand.

Today they find Samsung Note series S-pen as something unnecessary and expensive, if Huawei made their own version of it tommorrow they'd say it's the best thing ever.
They'll hate on whatever Samsung and Apple are doing - and then embrace it once Huawei copies it.

You can't argue with them because it leads to nowhere...

I never knew the Galaxy edge with this feature. I did see a video about an old Edge phone that had a deep edge on the right side and you could place icons and even play games on it, but seemed pretty clunky. Its been years so this one could be a much better implementation.

I think I'm starting to see people really believing that "waterfall screen" is "innovative".

It's same as the edge screens Samsung introduced 4 years ago.

Personally I hope the edges are used for multitasking imagine being able to swap between apps orr swap between jobs between an app using the edges, as well as virtual buttoms which seems the most obvious sage options.

Personally, I find this whole "waterfall screen" thing laughable. They are trying to look innovative or new without doing any innovation and people would probably fall for it.

I agree. That interpretation is very lame. I just shook my head and moved on after reading.

The waterfall display is just a more curved display. It is not any different from Samsung's curved displays. Some people assume that it will be more problematic to use due to the palm touching it at all times, but that won't happen due to the reason i mentioned below.

And yes, it is mostly for aesthetics, but it could be used for more practical purposes if developers make use of it (for e.g. it could be used for virtual triggers for gaming & such)

Whackcar, 17 Sep 2019After having seen how the waterfall display functions, i ca... moreWait! Waterfall display is okay but edge is not?
I was expecting people to thrash it here as it will reflect light and such. It does not have a practical purpose afterall, it's just for aesthetics isn't it?

After having seen how the waterfall display functions, i can safely say that it's not gonna be a problem from a practical standpoint. The edges are literally just for show and don't read your touch input (except the virtual buttons). It ends up giving you a really nice illusion of a truly bezel-less display without disrupting your usage.

Air Gestures are obviously a gimmick, but gimmicks are not meant to be used regularly. You use them when you want to impress someone or get someone's attention. At other times, you're not required to use them.

Fast-charging (and fast-wireless charging) is no gimmick. It is an essential feature that deserves appreciation. If you're concerned about your battery health, you can always use a standard charger to slow-charge instead. Fast-charging is very useful to the rest of us.

Overall, i think Huawei will deliver a good product. Let's wait and see.

Feels like matrix. Everything's going virtual. I expect much from face gestures.

Their are banned from Google services, Windows licensing, and ARM architecture, and so I don't even see the point of marketing this phone. Huawei should just sell off their phone and PC business.
