Doom, 30 Sep 2019https://9to5google.com/2019/09/23/how-to-install-google-app... moreMost certainly not. The article says the same as the other one I linked to. A simple sideload won't work as its missing, "the underlying libraries and necessary data, they will fail to load or encounter issues."

As I said all along, this will not be a solution for John and Jane Consumer. Only for those especially interested.

It's and eight step process and it already fails in step 2. First of all because any average user would not want to download something from an untrusted source, and secondly because that site is down for the count.

Here, can you eat back your words and negativity?

Doom, 20 Sep 2019Whatever you have claimed are speculations as well. My resp... moreit's already been proven that sideloading Google Play will not work. There is a workaround, but it's not as simple as sideloading.

Sideloading alone being a workaround making John and Jane Consumer uncomfortable in itself. Installing some chinese stuff, in all chinese language to unlock is definitely not for everyone.

Nick Tagataka, 21 Sep 2019It seems that somebody already found a solution. https://w... more"All they need to do is to put up the app to AppGallery and ask the users to install it during the setup"

Which they won't be allowed to. Joe and Jane will have to search around the web, or just get another device. J&J are unlikely follow a spanish video (unless being spanish or spanish speaking), then installing something where everything is in chinese.

This is a workaround for those particularly interested that aren't afraid of experimenting with their phones and you know, security.

Marco M, 18 Sep 2019True, the list is not updated daily, but regardless of that... moreIt seems that somebody already found a solution.

From the way the app installs Google apps to the phone, I'm assuming that this is Huawei's official app for sideloading the GMS Service onto their phones that don't come with it pre-installed. All they need to do is to put up the app to AppGallery and ask the users to install it during the setup, and that would be definitely easy enough for average Joe and Jane to follow.

Marco M, 20 Sep 2019You mean an article SPECULATING how it MAY be possible? ... moreWhatever you have claimed are speculations as well. My response was to your earlier comment saying that Sideload ing Google Play will not work. Whether or not Mate 30 will have stubs are also still up in the air. So the point here is it is NOT impossible to install Google Play through side loading as just yet. Don't jump the gun so quickly. As of today, installing Google Play through side loading is possible, it stands to reason that future would also be possible.

It won't be long before users in Asia start coming up with methods to install Google Play. I would stand by Mate 30 will be able to install Google Play through side loading, without too much hassle.

Doom, 19 Sep 2019https://www.xda-developers.com/huawei-mate-30-google-play-s... moreYou mean an article SPECULATING how it MAY be possible?

In Scenario 1 they used the China only Honor Magic 2 in the example. A China only device, true, but also a Android certified device. Installing GAPPS on this, and other Chinese versions of phones from makers such as Xiaomi, is easy, as long as they are certified.

              Huawei,Honor Magic 2,HWTNY,TNY-TL00

These don't ship with google pre-installed because they are meant to be sold exclusively in China, where bundling Google stuff isn't okay, not because the manufacturers are banned from using google android at all.

Scenario 2 is again something that only is valid for China only devices, that ship without google apps, but are prepared for google.

Take a different China only device, one that isn't certified, say they Lenovo Z5 pro, then it's a no go. And again, this manufacturer isn't even banned from using Google's apps, but this device is pretty much set up as if it was - or at least so i'm told. No google play out of the box, no stubs and no certification with google so sidelading was a no go. Could the guy I spoke to have unlocked the bootloader etc? Maybe, but returning it and getting another device was the solution.

Scenario 3 won't help Joe and Jane consumer. Even the first two examples are tough enough. Not to mention that Huawei aren't of the kind manufacturers making it easy for us consumers to unlock bootloader and root our devices.

After listing these scenarios, the first two likely irrelevant to Mate 30 Pro due to trade war restrictions and the third irrelevant to Joe and Jane Consumer, this article speculates that IF Huawei does as Honor, Xiaomi and other do with China only devices that are still prepared for google for use outside of China, then . . . bla bla bla. But the thing is they're not allowed to. . . No more so than bundling Google play etc.

What typically happens to major companies doing something they're not allowed to? Fines
What is likely to happen if Huawei makes it easy, by installing stubs if they get caught doing so? Fines+possible trade war escalation resulting in removal of stubs.
Unless this (sideloading) is considered as too much for Joe and Jane Consumer to be of any concern that is, but again that's only speculation :-)

In any case, no Mate 30 for me as they make the same mistake as mate 20. Notch+curved display, making the phone disqualified in my book.

Looks great and i really dont think no google services would be a problem.
No bloatware should be a nice addition to current phones on market.
