I find that apple have improved with the glass for sure. My iPhone XS has been dropped multiple times and not one crack, few scratches for sure but barely visible. Compared to other phones I've had a small drop and it would crack. I do need to invest into a case though, I've probably just jinxed myself!

Corning again,same old ion strengthened glass, not what high end users want or need. Paying 2500 to 3000 for a real pro iPhone is not a problem for many of us, and having used both ion and sapphire glass on apple watch im not in doubt, i want sapphire on a phone and i will pay what they ask. Only potential issue is that dirt sticks more on sapphire since they lack the standard oleophobic layer but i still want it.

Everyone knows that foldable phones are very susceptible to water and/or dust damage, drop, and even scratchable by a human fingernail. Who wants that kind of tech if screen durability is sacrificed?

The 'foldable' phone might be very special right now, I hardly see it as a major form factor, atleast not in the near future. Samsung did not only flop dramatically with it's first release, for now and atleast a few years it's too expensive, probably too big and the tech isn't right there yet.
Aside from that, I don't think consumers and therefore manufacturers will embrace the form factor like say, the bezel less screen. People would probably rather just buy a small tablet aside from their phone. These 'foldable' phones are always going to be big, thats basicly the whole point. And altough they might get thinner and the way they are designed might influence the size when they are folded compared to being unfolded, it's always going to be a problem.
Unless ofcourse you make them smaller and easier to cary around, but that kinda defeats the whole purpose.
It's a gimmick (And an expensive one) right now, and I applaud Samsung (And others) for doing something different and pushing technology further, but Apple doesn't have to be afraid to invest in better screens on the current technology for years atleast, perhaps even never.
Also my guess is that this will blow over just like 3D TV's at home, curved screens and even Blu-ray to an extend did. The latter obviously isn't a gimmick or a disappointment, but it's never getting as much traction like the DVD did at the time, mainly thanks to services like Netflix or online streaming in general.

GG DX+ for phones? Lol. I'd love to see that. Hopefully Apple's investment will make it happen and everyone will benefit from it.

It is pointless to invest in strengthened glass when the industry is shifting towards foldables, which rely on plastic screens. I say they should invest in improving foldable displays instead.
